You Will Answer My Newbish Questions About The 2013 328i Now

First off, much as I've loved my 2009 ///M-Sport the lease is up and it's time to get a replacement. No way I'm going for the "modern", so I'm either going "luxury", "sport", or "M-Sport" depending on where BMW is headed for MY2013.

I've got some random questions that I'm hoping someone can answer so that I don't have to go through a thousand threads to get caught up. Let me thank you in advance for your assistance. Here are the random questions:

For the ///M-Sport, is it true that Imperial Blue is not a color option nor is Saddle Brown interior?

For the Luxury, are sport seats an option? If not, are the new luxury seats more like the E90 sport seats (ie more padding, more lateral support, etc.)? Or are Luxury buyers stuck with sloppy, non-sport seats?

For the Luxury, are there sport suspension options available to replicate the suspension on the ///M-Sport (such as the 10mm drop) if the exterior/interior colors don't work for me?

For the Sport, are sports seats standard or do they have the same seats as the luxury and modern lines?

For all models, are halo headlights standard? Or do I need xenons to get daytime running lights as halos?

For all models, I'd read in another thread that the iDrive/Nav was being upgraded from 2012 to 2013. Is this correct?

TIA

BJ

yes that's correct

For the Luxury, are sport seats an option? no they are not

Yes

There is a rumor this may be possible haven't seen it confirmed

For the Sport, are sports seats standard or do they have the same seats as the luxury and modern lines? sport seats are standard and mandatory

For all models, are halo headlights standard? Or do I need xenons to get daytime running lights as halos?

The halos are standard but are not LED without xenons

For all models, I'd read in another thread that the iDrive/Nav was being upgraded from 2012 to 2013. Is this correct?

the consensus is that the updated idrive will only come on the active hybrid

TIA

They are LED and only come with Xenons.

This is debatable. I think I read something along those lines as well for MY2013 F30's.

Yes, but this OP has a storied and somewhat "beloved" history with Bimmerfest. He's now opening a new chapter.

People change, seems my stalker doesn't.

This whole "line" nonsense is a major pain in the ass. I should be ordering another ///M-Sport but I can't due to the lousy color/interior options. So instead I'll settle for the features on the Sport line (sports seats, etc.) but with the trim package from the Luxury line (hate the interior stitching and floor mats) and find that I'm stuck in nowhere land.

All these F30's, all these great new combo's and options, but they're restricted to "lines" that don't work. Ugh.

Thanks for the detail.

So if I want Angel Eyes as daytime running lights I must get the xenon option, correct?

Thank you for the detail, most of which is very depressing. The 3 Series has never had this many interior/exterior/functional options yet all the ones I want live on "lines" that I don't want. I love Imperial Blue. Sorry, not on an ///M-Sport. I love the shadowline trim. Sorry, not on a Luxury line. I want the sport seats, sorry, only on the Sports line. Shoot me.

I should start a thread about looking for an F30 buddy. He buys the Sports line, I buy the Luxury line, we trade parts and trim and between the two of us I can make a car that I can truly say I love.

This is the biggest complaint with the F30.

Lease is up, have to order something from Germany this month so I can have a seamless transition. Last time this happened to me I settled for a car that was 80% of what I wanted because it was sitting right there on my dealer's lot and I wouldn't have to wait a few months. This time, I'm getting exactly what I want, every last option.

I was all set to re-up for an F30 ///M-Sport but the color combinations nauseate me. I've been in Space Grey on Black for 3 years, can't do it again. That 'exclusive' blue is boy-racer bright and I can't stomach it.

So, based on disappointment with the M-Sport exterior/interior options I'm going to reluctantly get a Luxury line with as many sport options as I can get on there because, unbelievably, the Sport line is so screwed up I can't stomach that either.

When getting a $50,000 car got this hard and this disappointing I don't know.

How they can deny sports seats in Luxury line models is astounding. Maybe the rest I can live with, not this.

Well, you can buy a C300 but it only comes with an automatic tranny and AWD. Or a C250 with only 200 hp. BMW is not the only company that restricts what you can buy. And if you took the time to search this forum you could have easily found the answers to all your questions.

You've been here for many years so you should know better. When has BMW ever allowed you to have sport seats in a car without the sport package?

Other companies don't usually restrict color palettes on interior/exterior combinations except on material upgrades.

You really should consider a new Camry, you know. You are getting up there in years.

The problem is that they discontinued the sport package and they're forcing us to buy a whole car just to get it.

Used to be that if I wanted a 3 Series in Imperial Blue with a non-stitch-contrasting interior with chrome window trim and sports seats I could get it. Now I can't. I don't want a sports line; I want a luxury line with the sports package. Am I missing something?

I'm not laughing. It is humbling to know 2012 Camry SE is as fast as F30 328i.

Disagree. Dealership you will probably get bad info. The amount of poorly informed employees at dealerships is mindblowing.

Hard to believe but I agree with bolt about something... The options for a 50k car are annoying. You really shouldn't feel like you're settling when you spend this much.

In order to get the color combo I want I'd have to go Luxury, at which point I might as well opt for something cushy from Audi or MB if I'm not going to have BMW's sports package.

Instead I'll keep enjoying my N54 with hydraulic steering and ZSP.

Excuse me?!?!?! Have you been drinking? Or just not paying attention to every other car company's offerings for at least the past 35 years?

It appears to have been confirmed by BMW corporate people at events that the new idrive is not headed to NA 2013 3 series cars, which sucks.
