Mein Auto: 2007 X3 3.0si Sport Pkg
Fault code 2EF7/ 4x4 light/limp mode

Driving along in the 07 3.0si sport pkg auto trans sport pkg with the cruise control on and encountered some minor bumps in road and the cruise control disengaged and the 4x4 light flashed. I reset the cruise control and the next minor bumps it disengaged again with the 4x4 light flashing and also no acceleration when throttle pressed. This continued for the next 65 miles home. We read the fault code 2EF7 but it doesn't make sense. I verified the plastic transfer case worm drive screw is perfect. What now? I have driven the vehicle several time since and it still has no power (limp home mode?) and the 4X4 light continues to flash intermittently under hard acceleration.
