As soon as he posted that on 6/24, in the very next post I challenged his assertion as the Missing CAFD error is related to a PSDZdata file, not an E-Sys file, and asked him to confirm it, and he hasn't yet. They had it almost 2 weeks and have been working with BMW Engineers, and no fix yet..

Dealer was told to put latest update on to try and fix, but it will be a week or more before they get the update, so I have my car back until the updates come in.

What I'm reading from this is that 46.6 may not be at all the service departments yet, once it gets out there the PSDZDATA files will probably start showing up...

E-Sys is probably the program we should all pool together on....

we're slightly off topic, but yes, last year e-sys 3.13(one that had est crack) did not work with new 44.0(I think), hence no one could code new cars... we're good now but don't know what will happen from here. we need java gods in our forum now

I still think it will work regardless of E-sys version. How does one obtain these newest versions of the ISTA data is where we need to channel our collective energy. WIth the community as large as it has grown, a group effort to get enough funds to get these updates should not be a problem. We need to find the source of where to get it from. Anyone have any ideas how and whom do we contact as a direct source to get this data???

READ FA ERROR:

Few have reported "READ FA Error........"

This kind of error you will get when after clicking the Connect button and picking up the right SELECTOR, you do not select "CONNECT via VIN".

You might get a messge that EYS connection established (..162) but infact it is NOT.

Or incorrectly selecting the target with the _DIRECT after it.

I'm having some trouble connecting to my car all of a sudden.

I can run the ZGW search and it will find the car but esys gives me a grayed out box for connecting via vin and a message that says "No ZGW Available"

I have tried ripping out Esys and reinstalling to no avail. Firewall is off for this connection. and I am able to see the list of Targets just no connect bus.

I was also able to do some coding before on this laptop with no issues, this problem just cropped up.

Any ideas?

And nothing is different about either your setup, or your car since when it was working with no issues?

Not that I am aware of on the laptop. The laptop is exactly the same it only gets used for coding.

The car was in for service and had an update run but I had been able to get in to it since then but only once.

Edit: got it working on another computer... odd but at least I can code again.

I was using E-Sys a while ago and had everything working fine. Fast forward a year, I took my 2012 328i to the dealer to take care of a recalled sensor and they reset everything I programmed. Well, I now have a new laptop so I had to download and re-install all the coding software.

The issue I'm having is that I cannot connect to the E-Sys software. In E-Sys the Connect via VIN box is grayed out and says No ZGW Available even though the ZGW software is clearly reading my VIN.

One of the first tips in this thread was to make sure the "dist" folder is located within each of the mainseries folders, which it is. I also made sure the EDIABAS.ini file has ENET listed next to interface as another thread suggested. Attached is a screenshot of the grayed out VIN connection.

Any thoughts? Am I not making a proper connection to my car somehow and if not how was the software even able to pull up my VIN if it isn't?

UPDATE: Turns our one of my network cable wires broke at the solder joint. I can connect just fine now.

Now I just need to find an updated HU_CIC data set or something because I cannot edit the file at all. O_o

If you need that CAFD, you have ISTA/P 2.49.2 on your car. Besides needing cafd_000000f9-007_006_009 for the Head Unit, it also means you won't be able to code anything until you update both your E-Sys and PSdZData.

Yeah, I'm learning all sorts of new things today. A lot has changed since I first did all this coding to my car about a year ago. I also just learned that I now need to pay for a patch/token this time which wasn't necessary before.

I guess someone wanted to get a piece of all this hacking action and pad their pocketbooks a bit with some extra $$!

Not exactly. BMW made some security chnages to the PSdZData beginning in version 48.2. This rendered the old E-Sys 3.18.4 everyone was using useless. Fortunately, someone developed a solution, and while it does come with a price, at least it is a very reasonable one.

now i have the psdzdata 2.49.1, is possible to have a link to 2.49.2
