Question What's this clicking noise? - video

Is such noise normal for 2006 330i, or something may be wrong? I did search on the forum and people say that slight ticking noise is normal but since there were no videos I couldn't compare.

Update: I compared with other videos on Youtube and it sounds like lifter ticking. So, the mystery is solved.

I don't think the ticking noise affects anything apart from it being annoying, now there is good news and bad news for this.

1. BMW use to fix this by replacing the entire cylinder head = quite expensive. This is the bad news :P

The good new is that it is Hydraulic Valve lifters (push rods) The bad news is, that there is a lot of them (24) and take quite a bit of labour time.

My car does this as well, but it only happens sometimes, usually after the car has been driven for a while and then at idle and it isn't as loud as yours, so I'm going to leave mine. But hey, at least you know what the fix is.

I think you are looking at about 2K bill from an independent mechanic for this fix.
