Disc changer in 645ci

I have a 2004 645ci, I guess I have a disc changer in it but I can't seem to find it. It's not in my glove box, where is it located? Or, do I even have a disc changer in my Beemer?

It should be in the glovebox. There is a very slight chance someone installed an aftermarket one in the trunk behind the carpet.

Just go into iDrive > Entertainment and see if CD1 to CD6 is available. You will see AM FM CD (the CD in the dash) then you should see 6 more CDs available, if not then you don't have a changer installed.

In idrive it does say cd1-6. I click on it and nothing happens. I tried to insert anther cd in the cd player but of course if doesn't take it cuz there is already one in there. I checked the glovebox....... Nothing, I checked the trunk and........nothing. I don't know if the cd changer comes stock on the 645 or do I actually have to go and install one. I don't see one anywhere

If you see the CD1-CD6 then maybe the previous owner removed the changer. I would just grab a new one off eBay. It would interesting to hear from some of the owners on here that removed their changer to install an iPod kit to see of the CD1 to CD6 disappeared from iDrive.

Here is the retrofit part number.

And the CD Changer part numbers.

I would look and see if the cable for the changer is still installed in the golvebox.

There is a cable that just hangs there in the glove box, I thought it was a cell phone charger. I guess it is the cable for the changer. The cd1-6 is in my idrive but it's not highlighted its dimmer that the rest of the stuff. I'll look into buying another one if it's not too expensive thanks for all our help

There is a slight possibility that the cable that you are referring to is indeed a cable for an ipod. You should post a picture of it so that we may identify the cable.

That is a very good idea. If the changer is missing it is very likely the owner removed it to install the iPod cable (you can't have both iPod and CD changer with an OEM setup). To have both you need something like the Gateway 500.

If this iPod interface is the Dension 500 unit you can retrieve detailed operation instructions on their website.

And if it's the BMW MOST adapter, you just go to CD 1-6.

My vote is an iPod cable.
I would trace it back to see what you have.
Also I have had a cable go bad before so don't rule that out.

I have the Dension Gateway 500 & the CD1-6 is there. I think there are two ways to fit the Dension, like an iPod retrofit or a CD Changer retrofit (or replacement if the car already had a CD Changer installed).
