Tire noise

Bought my X in for a thumping sound, took a ride with the head tech, confirmed that the tires were choppy in his opinion, no wheel bearing issue, well anyway they recommended a rotate and balance,
price wasn't bad 68.00 total, not sure if I want to do it for the following reasons :

1. Tires look evenly worn to my eyes, front and rear, I feel no choppiness across any of the tires.

2. No vibrations whatsoever

3. Tires have about 15 k on them, mistake to rotate at this point ?

Rotate and balance aren't going to cut it if the tires are cupped. I had the same issue with my 2 front vredrestein tires. I verified by swapping on my snow tires, and the noise went away. Tires looked worn evenly.

I went to the shop who did all the track alignments for my M3, and they told me that a lot of the E70s and even E53s with the sport package and 20" rims exhibited that tire noise. I'm swapping installing new tires on Thursday, and rechecking my alignment then

I am only running the 18in Michelin RFT, tires are smooth across, no noise on the highway, just some noise depending upon the road service, Here is a pic of the tires from a previous thread http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=625876, as long as I can get another 15k out of these tires, I will be satisfied.
