I'm currently borrowing a 2002 w/ 119k and the service indicator light is on. I don't have any of the manuals, is there a 120k service? If so, what should it entail?

2003 3.0ia 60k runs like a champ for the last 2 weeks of ownership hopefully she'll give us lots of trouble free miles. I just need to figure out where the whistling sound is coming from during acceleration from the standstill.

these cars last

101,100 on my 2003 x5 interior is perfect except driver mat and passenger door lock always sticks after being repaired numerous times...exterior stayed really nice...black on black makes that easy...no real issues but I spend alot having my brakes constantly repaired but that is my fault I guess...I kept my 325is for 8 years and I put 138,000 miles on it. These cars last.

Can anyone beat 160,000 miles?

Original owner 01 X5 3.0. I put $4,000 into it each of the last two years. That includes brakes and tires.

Had the oil separator cold weather problem, replaced CV joints and boots at 100K. Replaced 3 or 4 "control arms" under the car, whatever they are.

Park distance control is acting up. I leave the cjheck engine light on as my mechanic days it's $300 to replace the part and it "doesn't matter"

Still drives great and looks new.

Our 2009 X5 diesel just turned 13,000 miles on a ski trip yesterday. No problems whatsoever. Has been to the dealer only once for oil change (did the other oil change myself). They picked up on a flat bed in the morning and brought it back in the afternoon. Looks like this is going to be another flawless BMW.

2003 X5 3.0i + Sport. 77,500 miles.

I've put $6800 into it since it went out of service (the latest was $2k in August). It needs $2700 to repair 3 oil leaks, replace front lifters (or something), and 4 wheel alignment (because of replacing the lifters). So that would be $4700 in less than a year.

Also, the A/C compressor needs to be replaced to the tune of $2500. That'll be $12k (if I pay the $2700 and $2500), so I've decided to cut and run; I'll be getting a 2011 X5 35d really soon.

I forgot to add. The car has been to the dealer 3 times for non maitenance idems including a "crazy" transmition which still shifts whenever it wants to, a stuck parking brake, a complete change of the electronics as something was shorting everything, and a flat tire which made me change the other side also.

For me the transmision is the main problem, and naturally BMW is just saying its the adaptive transmission nothing we can do.

Just traded my 2003 4.6is with 105,800 miles. It was CPO'd and I bought the maintenance for a song. I did one set of brakes, 2 sets of tires (my dime) and a complete BMW transmission @72,000 miles due to serging while stopped all on the plan. Otherwise, very satisfied with its time with me.
