Bilstein shocks

these shocks didn't come with a hardware kit, and it seems they should. anyone do a swap on these before that can tell me how their process was. nut not fitting down.
I replaced front shocks on my 1991 850. Shocks comes with the retaining nut, had to cut the old nut to get the old stuff out, put the new bilstein in, retaining nut from bilstein fit OK. Roland
