They said this is VERY prominent with customesr trying to "make" LED Angel eyes & aftermarket sound enhancements and radar detectors.

Derrick was very kind at E92 Lighting, and I would buy regular H8 bulbs (GP Thunders) from him, but dealing with these hot resistors, Error codes, testing the BMW warranty, having LED lights that are very dim ( both Angel Eyes are NOT bright, like factory LEDs)...this just is not worth it!!

It errors most likely due to the resistor value being incorrect or that in production, wiring is not soldered or set on as it should have. That could possibly explain why it error at times and not others.

A simple way to get rid of the error is to just have someone code out the checks for you.

As for what your SA told you, it's half baked truth. While dick dealerships would try to man-handle you and claim your warranty is void because of aftermarket mod, they have to actually prove it. This is stated by BMWNA.

REALLY?? Wow, how does this differ from the Error free sets that several of us received last week, that throw Error codes? Is this ALL NEW???

Waiting for my new set from E92!!! Hopefully it will solve the problem and I will keep you guys updated.

we have three types available, the type you received has been fixed, awaiting the last tester, the type that we do have that is error free will be uploaded tonight, since its already been confirmed many times already we dont need any testers for it, however we can offer introductory pricing.

As far as I understand and what E92 told me, you are getting exactly mine (black resistor) so it should be fine - don't worry.

Take the old bulb out, put the new one in, plug-and-play connect, ziptie the resistors to hood latch housing, done.
15 minutes if you take your time.

I tested the orginal ones for MTec for our cars in another thread. Have they fixed the blinking issue we had back then. They looked nice but not as bright as I would have liked. So are these brighter?

yes, these are brighter now, it comes with 4 resistors in total, unlike the 2 resistors in the past, and there is no more blinking issue as its fades in and fades out exactly like OEM.

OK I just talked Mtec and they are going to send me a new set today to try out hopefully these work. I'll keep you posted.

Seems like you switched to another product tho. And these are more expensive, and they are only 6Watt as opposed to 20W on my Letronix. They are going to be a lot weaker. I'm not sure if it's worth it.
Why don't you offer the previous ones, but with the black resistors?

we will be offering both types after the final testing, one model will be DTEC V2 and one model will be from MTEC

How do these lights look with the xenons turned on? I've noticed at night that the new LED's on the X5 and 5 series look very bright almost like they're aftermarket xenon's.

No matter what, you can't compare these with the latest generation OeM LED lights. The rings themselves are designed differently.

Good luck! I've seen other threads like this in the e65 forum and hence played it safe with MTEC's.

MTEC was okay for e65/e60, but now they abuse their brand name by offering an inferior product for a higher price. 6W is subpar and is not bright enough for the f01 angel eye rings. I have seen one yesterday and it was night&day compared to mine.
Also their resistor is bigger and chunky, awfully designed compared to the slick and solid Letronix ones.

Funny you say this, while I actually love the super bright rings on the X5 and 5 Series, my spouse hates them & says they look cheap, tacky & 'Japanese aftermarket'...and much, much prefers the creamy yellow, halogen factory Corona Rings on the F01. Different strokes for different strokes.
