Question Aspherical mirror glass - auto dimming vs not?

Looking for aspherical mirror glass for our '11 E70. I'm seeing some vendors specifying glass for auto-dimming vehicles versus not.

My understanding was that all three mirrors responded to the centrally located light sensor and that there was no sensor in the side mirrors....

So, my question is, is there any difference between an aspherical, heated mirror glass and the same item for the auto-dimming options?

The connectors are different. If your vehicle is equipped with auto-dimming exterior mirrors and you buy just the heated one, you'll lose both the heat AND the auto-dimming function because you can't plug the two ends together, although the power adjustments will continue to work normally because that's separate.

Thanks for the info. Seems very strange that BMW would create two different power plugs to the heating element in the glass, which essentially is identical isn't it?

Still, stranger things....
