Nice. If the residuals and MF are as good as the F30's (probably will be worse but close), then a $0 down, max-MSD, 10k mi/yr, 3-year ED lease at $500 over invoice would be $240/month pre-tax for a base s28i.

Not bad for a rear-drive family hatchback with a turbo-four. The X1 will make the joy of a BMW attainable for more people, which is a great thing.

Have a feeling the residuals will mirror the X3, not the 3. So the X1 will not exactly be a bargain. In my estimates that way the 3 series still ends up cheaper on a lease.

I agree with this...

I have been told by my dealer that X1 availability and allocations will be very limited initially, and that finance rates will not be cheap, for what its worth, and I tend to agree.

Buying instead of leasing may make more sense here. Just guessing of course, based on availability.

Not comfortable with BMW "quality" for buying.

Looks like X1 may be my ED choice.

$27.7k for x28 ED is pretty darn good. Does that include destination?

Might have found Mrs 3ismagic#'s next car.

I just got back from Toronto, saw several X1's when I was there... I kept thinking that the X3's sure look different here, until I saw the X1 on the back of the car.... subtile differences, but looks good.

Anyone know when X1 will hit the show rooms? I need a test drive before pulling the ED trigger on it.

I talked to the dealer last week and he said his demo X1's have a July 27th production date and he anticipates around 4-6 weeks to get to the dealer seeing that customs in the US may take a while for a new model to test emissions.

Naturally each dealer tends to have different information

When I was at the drive for USA a couple of weeks ago, my dealer told me they would have the X1 in July. I told him to call me when, if ever, they get a demo.

BTW, the comparison car I chose was an Audi A4 which impressed me enough to check out a A3.

Cheers

As the owner of a 7 year old (MY2006, produced 2005) A3, I'd be reluctant to ever go down that path again. My wife's list of repairs/general maintenance items/recall work is obscene (over 3k in 2012, not including recall work for engine issues on two occasions and 2k - not dealer pricing - in maintenance work that must be done soon).

Inflation sucks ><

Optioned out similarly to when I bought the 2005 X3, the X1 might be a bit more expensive o.0

Not to mention that the X1 has the latest technology, safety measures, engines, brake regeneration, and on and on and on.

Most of which besides an engine I do not want or need but have to pay for and suffer the maintenance pains later.

Cheers

X1 = little bigger than a countryman.

I actually think the Countryman looks better. Too bad they don't do Euro Delivery on that. Aren't they made in Austria?
