Minor Accident

Wife got hit lastnight , insurance company came today and wrote up a preliminary estimate and quoted a reconditioned front bumper cover. Should I accept this or demand a new bumper. Minor issue but wanted bimmerfest readers opinions. Everything else (fender and hood) will be new.

It is probably your right (in many states) to have all-new parts (not sure about GA.)
However, a re-conditioned bumper cover is probably just as good. The cost is in painting (or re-painting) the thing, so there is not much difference in cost.

Note that the bumper shocks UNDERNEATH the cover must be checked and possibly replaced: they are one-use items.

Thanks for the info, I had the same thoughts as you. The body shop is looking at the bumper shocks and I have full confidence in them fixing it right, just sucks tohave to have it fixed, but eveyone was okay so that is really all that matters.

If you really want the OEM you'll likely have to push back a bit. The best 3 words for this are "diminished value claim"

Take it to Magnum Collision in Marietta. They will do a great job and will go to bat for you against the insurance company.

Awesome, the car is at Magnum right now and I told them original BMW parts only and they seemed to be onboard. Glad to hear another good recommendation for magnum.
