$4,500 eco credit for X5 diesel is back

In case you havent' t seen the the thread http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=627085 on the X5 forum, the $4,500 eco credit is back for the diesel version. As of now, this offer will expire on July 2, but I wouldn't be surprised if BMW kept extending the offer until the new X5 comes out in 2013.

Cashed in on this just in time, plus the $1,500 owner loyalty rebate.

I got $9300 plus Tint off my recently ordered x5d. Also, there is the option of adding brushed aluminum trim free which isnt an option on BMWUSA.com

Car stickered at roughly $62k so after my $9300 off and my $1k BMWCCA rebate, Im looking at under $51k for a brand new nicely optioned according to my taste X5d!!!!

I was actually going to wait for the X1 28 SDrive(RWD) to come out and use it as a DD, but the X5 was a no brainer!

I think the $1500 is for previous BMW owners and its a regular offer from your local $tealer.

My SA broke the discount down as such: $4500 ECO Credit + $1500 Owner Loyalty + $3300 Dealer Discount = $9300.

If you have the BMW Olympic Drive $1000 voucher add that on as well as probably maybe another $500-700 room for negotiation from the $tealer.

This was my 3rd new car purchase from them in 2-3 years so I had some recent transactions to go by as far as discounting including the previous $4500 Eco Credit deal I did on my 335d. Dealer gave me an additional $3000 and free tint.

I'm sort of debating Touareg TDI vs x5d at the moment.

bayoucity, I am in the same boat. We need to replace our second vehicle some time this year and looking at both the Touareg TDI and another X5d. Throw in the mix the new Cayenne diesel and you are looking at our options.

From a pricing perspective, I think it would be hard to beat this current X5d deal. A base X5d which still includes plenty of options such as xenons, BT, pano moonroof, etc, is around $56,700 so lets say you can get $10k off after all is said and done......$47k for a brand new X5d with 4 years of maintenance and wty just sounds very appealing.

Good luck and let us know what you decide. I havent even considered any of the other diesel SUV alternatives just because I have always wanted to own an X5.

Have you driven both? I'd thought the BMW would be a no brainer but I have not driven either, so I am making assumptions.

How much more does the Porsche end up being once you option it out how you'd like it? I got all excited about the Porsche then started comparing power figures and lost some excitement. Then when I started looking at the Porsche options I'd want the price tag I recall started to get way over the others and I lost even more excitement. I keep trying to remind myself that I best drive one before I prejudge them any more.

A lot more, I am afraid I think somewhere between 65-70k depending on what options to go with. That's why the Touareg is still in the hunt (same platform, almost the same power as the Cayenne). Just can't wrap my head around paying 50k for a VW, at least not yet ...

I have not driven either actually.....but I have owned several VWs and to be quite honest.....they are Good just not great and I would never pay a premium for one.

I too have owned a few and feel the same way. Awhile back when I looked at costs of diesel SUVs I was quite surprised to see the X5, Tourag and ML all in the same basic price range.

Was that a question for me? I was optioning it with the Premium Package and tow hitch, MSRP around $65,000. If I add the PASM it's another $2,000 and finally if I go all in with the air suspension on top of the PASM, the total is $69,000. According to truecars.com the local Porsche dealers do not come much down from list price, so we are looking at way more than a similar X5.

finn, which Touareg trim will you be happy to own? My preference is TDI Lux as I'll be happy to use it for ferrying kids and hauling grocer.

I do like saddle brown.

My preference is the TDI Lux version as well, seems like the best value in the Touareg line-up.

Also a usaa credit of 2500 available. Really loved my drive in one of these. Shocked i liked it so much.

When you say "brushed aluminium trim", do you mean the trim around the windows? And is this your local dealer, or BMW USA-wide? If it is USA-wide, how did you find out about it? I am headed in to my local dealer tomorrow and I've been thinking of going for a new '12, and I want to ensure that I don't leave anything on the table! Thx

BMW USA seems to be really good about passing them all over. Wish I could say the same for Mercedes.

No the brushed alum is the interior trim that replaces the wood. Its an option on the gas X5's, but my dealer saw that it was available and switched it for me from bamboo to brushed aluminum because this is my 3rd car and he knows I hate wood!

Its a local-ish dealer in the DFW area. I bought my 335d and 128i from him so literally its an email with my offer and he either accepts or says the best he can do. Took 3 email replies to get $9300 off on a '12 X5d. You cant beat that. I also got $7500 off my '11 335d so I like owning cars that have equity from the get go.

That true. You can customize x5/w AL trim via bmwconfig.com which is more accurate than bmwusa.com .

I dont agree because bmwconfig shows you can order Carbon Black as your exterior which is not the case! I tried asking my salesguy!

If I remember correctly, I think you can special order your X5 with piano black interior, it's called an individual option. Do a search on X5 forum with piano black as your search term and you should get several threads.
