Adventures in oil capacity....

So I hit 6700 miles this week and my low oil warning came on again. I thought wow, I was just there at 4500 miles not long ago. Damn, how much oil does this 550 burn?!

I went to dealer yesterday and the SA gets me from waiting room and asks me to come take a look under the hood.

Holy sh@t, the oil cap on top was off, the guy found it wedged near the radiator!

Immediately I looked for the SA that helped me last time and pulled him over to show him. I pointed out that he was the last guy under the hood. He didn't say a word of course, not fessing up or apologizing.

I was at that stage where I was deciding whether to keep calm or blow this guy up and get his boss. I was pissed...but realize mistakes happen. I decided to keep calm, other than a dirty engine bay there seemed to be no issues.

Strangely enough I never smelled any burnt oil over the last month, no did I have any leaks in the garage.

I was in a hurry so I didn't have time for a good engine bay cleaning, but I think I'll go back again later and ask for one.

In short, you can go about 2000 miles with no oil cap.....and I'm always going to check under the hood after a service now!

Sorry to hear this and really not good. There is no telling how much "stuff" was sucked in to the engine. I would have a serious problem with this.

Ya know I didn't think of that. Damn.

What course of action should I take now?

This one is a first for me...
