2010 550i Power Tailgate

Trying to purchase 2010 550i GT 42k mile with the following spec.
Could anybody tell me if this car has Power Tailgate or not?
I attached the spec...
Also, how much would be the good deal (BMW dealership) for this one? Thank you

Anyone who knows the answer?
Is there any 2010 550i that does not have power tail gate?

How about 29k for this car with 42k miles?

Thank you

On the code sheet it is shown in the option list as S316A "automatic trunk lid mechanism."

post the VIN and I can check for you. I will post the full specs/options including build date.

Is it a CPO?

I believe power tailgate is standard...have not heard of anyone stating they do not have a power tailgate. $29k sounds like it is out of original warranty, but a steal for the amount of car you are getting IMHO. Is it a BMW CPO? If it were me I'd ask for the service records and have a pre-purchase inspection performed by an independent BMW specialist. Personally I would look carefully at the service records and ask the independent to look for any red flags related to known issues with the N62 engines (can find plenty of drivetrain malfunctions and engine replacement stories on the F01 forums). Good luck, keep us posted!

I could be wrong but if you don't have the convenience package (which nearly every GT seems to have), you don't have keyless entry, keyless go or power tailgate....

This is VIN number.
The car is sitting in BMW dealership, but the car is not CPO
They are doing pre-sale inspection

Thank you for your reponses.

The picture clearly shows push button start but the spec doesn't show convenience package. So I am confused...and that's why I am posting this thread

I don't have time to paste the results - here you go -

http://www.bmwarchive.org/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html

It does not have the power tailgate. but I believe it does have keyless entry/start.

I note that the build date puts this car as one of the earliest builds of a new model....

the only items it is missing that I think are must haves are rear camera and hi fi stereo....

Do you think I should go for it without power tailgate and rear view camera?
42k miles, no warranty remaining, only sports package, $29k

the price is decent BUT with no warranty, I would get an independent BMW mechanic to check the car over AND I would demand that the dealer show you the full service records.

I assume you did a carfax and autocheck?

Yes, carfax is clean
The car has one owner and had been sold from this dealership and serviced there...Looks like they took it for trade in

I have been following this thread and agree with the other posters but if it is a one-owner that was serviced at that dealership, I am wondering why they wouldn't CPO it.

The worst they can say is 'no' but I would ask for the CPO Warranty as part of the deal. Can't hurt.

Due to extra cost for CPO they can't CPO this car...

Well you can look at it two ways. You have potentially great negotiating leverage on a low demand, low optioned vehicle (further decreasing interest both now and when you go to sell or trade). The positive is you have arguably the most important aspects for this vehicle (V8 engine, dynamic damper control, super comfortable seats). The negative (and big red warning flag IMHO) is the dealer won't CPO...extra cost means nothing, is it engine related (ie carbon buildup, actual engine faults that have been cleared, etc?), cosmetic, electronics, combination of?

I would be asking a certified BMW specialist to go over this car with a SEM.

For reference we purchased same model and model year in August of last year for $42k so you definitely are getting a low price, but I'd still be very wary based on their reasoning for lack of CPO. Would it be a local purchase?

personally I would rather pay more for a car with warranty. the thought of owning a very complicated and expensive car (when new) usally = very very expensive repairs when something goes wrong.....

And to correct myself from earlier, it's the N63 engine.

as for price, I guess it is a decent price..... I bought my 2010 550 6+ mos ago and paid under $41k (plus $1000 shipping)...but mine had only 4k miles, 2+yrs of factory warranty and about $9k in additional options (see list in my signature) over the one you are looking at....cost adjusted for options, mileage and warranty you should target $25-27k. I would offer them $25k and let them say no...be prepared to walk.

I hear you!! that said, I am not telling you that you will find asking prices in that range....but that is your target sales price. when I was looking at these cars 6mos ago, asking prices were considerably higher than what I was willing to pay. I beat a dealer down for my car over $5k...I think asking prices are still too high and I think these cars are just sitting....you need to find sellers that are tired of sitting on these cars and that want to move them....if your dealer is asking $29k, there is no reason not to push and try to knock off another $3-5k....see how badly they want to move this car....

Thank you for your replies. I appreciate it

The original price was 32, 999 and I brought him down to 29k.....I thought I will buy this one but realized that this doesn't come with rear camera and power tail gate...

I may try an auction with a dealer if I opt out not to purchased this car...

I just did a quick cars.com search. at least 12 2010 550GTs w/under 40k miles asking $30-33k.

if you have access to a wholesale auction you can almost certainly find a car in the mid to high 20s.

FWIW, none of the GT's have an ignition key, they all have a start/stop button. But, only when you have comfort access can you just walk up to the car and open a locked door without taking the fob out and pressing the unlock button.

While a person can drive and back up the car without the camera, it's much easier with one. Personally, I don't bend and twist much anymore, and I'd be hard pressed to safely reverse a car without it, especially one with the minimal rear window view (it's fine for traffic behind while driving, though).

so then what the heck is included in the convenience package?? just the power tailgate and reverse camera?

The convenience package components depends on the model and year, but the operational difference is each door and tailgate have a sensor on them...basically, you walk up to the car, grab the handle, and if you have the fob on you, the door unlocks or the trunk opens. When you get out, you leave the fob in your pocket or purse, touch the sensor on the handle, and the doors lock. There's also memory for your preferences, so whomever opens the driver's door, the heat, radio presets, mirrors, etc., get moved to your presets.

Without that, to lock/unlock, you either need to press the interior button while inside, or use the remote. If the car is unlocked, without the convenience package, you can probably use the buttons on the rear, but they will not work if the car is locked unless you use the fob to unlock, or have the convenience package.

That was part of a bigger package, and when I ordered mine in 2011, I did not want the other things, and just ordered the convenience package to get the easier door access. This is a special ordering option...the dealer cannot order a vehicle for his stock like that, but you have a few more options (at least then) when you special ordered a vehicle. They have a special name for that class of options, but I do not remember it right now.
