Question What's this about German Engineering?

Treated myself on Fathers Day to a used 318i convertible I knew I could resell at the same or better price after a bit of fun..

Just been going through the history.

At 10,000 miles it needed trackrod ends and since then virtually everything else over time. We're not talking bits needed after a million miles either!

I've discovered the 'turning key' problem too - hardly a universal marque car problem so why can't they use the same ignition barrels as everyone else?

Fog lamp glass - a little thing - is a breathtaking price. Forget what, my brain sizzled, about 50 times the price of a replacement one on ebay.

Is it just me who thinks this - but seems to me the Germans have been taking the P?

Sorry, but what is "taking the P?" Not familiar with this.

Well in this instance it means overcharging and underdelivering on quality
