New Tire Recs for 2007 335 convertible with sport package

Tires wearing down again, deciding whether to buy original run flats or buy new tires, either another brand of run flats or non-flats, leaning more to non-run flats, any suggestions?

I'm very partial to the Michelin Pilot Sport 2 ZP rft. Better than the original Bridgestones by far. If non-rft, the Pilot SuperSport seems to be even better as far as longevity.

I can highly recommend the ContiSportContact 3 for its overall good road manners and handling/braking capabilities. They lasted 31k miles on my mother's 325i too.

Michelin Primacy MXM4s

Today replaced my OEM Continential ProContact SSR RFTs (on my 2009 328i with 17" sports package) with Michelin Primacy MXM4s Non RFTs. Didn't want to loose any handling but wanted more comfort and quiet. Not disappointed. MXM4s are probably a bit less crisp on initial turn-in but appear to have slightly more overall grip and transiet response. No question more comfortable and quieter and much cheaper than equivalent RFTs. NTB has several promotions that beat the price of tires alone at TireRack to include a 5 year alignment. Of course have no spare but going with a patch kit, Slime and inflator. (NTB also includes free towing). Bottom line - trades off but more than satisfied. Not against RFTs but non RFT option works for me.

+1 I've had the michelin Pilots RFTs for 5K+ miles -- quieter, smoother and awesome handling. love em.

You will get recommendations ALL OVER THE SPECTRUM...you may want to do more SEARCHING on this very ACTIVE subject...there's a TON of information. You DIDN'T indicate any particular REASON for going away from RFs...or if you've considered the consequences of a FLAT TIRE without RF mobility. Depends on your driving habits.

There is a "3rd generation" of RFs being offered by Bridgestone (Tire Rack) RE960AS...that you MIGHT want to explore in their web site. Less expensive than the previous OE tire...a "free trial" period...mileage warranty...improved ride comfort. Finally, some improvements on the "old' OE RF tire. Some of us in here have been waiting a long time for this 3Gen tire.

I just put these on a couple weeks ago. It's tough to beat Michelins.

Michelin has advanced technology in ultra-high performance tires (non-RF), but Bridgestone has passed them in RF technology IMO due to their domination in original equipment fitments with BMW. This has allowed them to invest in new technology such as the "3rdGen" tire. I don't see Michelin as a "player" in new RF technology...nor have I seen any new developments from them in recent years...as with Bridgestone.

Bridgestone has run ahead of their competition with their new RE960AS. Michelin has no reason to invest in further advancements as they have no large contract with BMW and are still suffering from their 'PAX' RF failure in the market.

Yeah, I don't know much about RFT's. My only experience was with the Bridgestone's that came on my car, and those sucked. After they wore out at 20k I went with Michelin PS2's (non-RFT's). I ran those on my E46 M3 and loved them. They were were just as good on my 335i for 30k miles. I expect the Super Sport's to be pretty darn good also.
