Car sat for 3 months and battery dead (OEM 2005).
Was told by local mechanic that replacement had to be "synced" with car. Not sure what thats about, was looking to just pop in a Sears diehard or something similar. Any info?
But be careful, the terminals are reversed compared to most batteries.
I know that AutoZoen carries a battery that will work, although it is a smaller case. The E36 has a second mounting point for the shorter case, not sure about the E46. I have put BMW batteries in the E46.
And if you leave the car for a long time, I suggest a Battery Tender.
Right. The E46 does not need to have the battery "registered" like the newer BMWs. I put a new battery in my M3 last summer, and got an Interstate Battery from a local Firestone tire shop that fits perfectly and included the vent tube needed for a trunk mount battery.
