Hi
Whats a 'fender flare' ?! a stick on piece of plastic to 'flare' the arches? if so, i doubt anyone makes these as they'd look quite dire on our cars! I might be wrong though ! Cheers, Dennis! |

I dont think fender flare = fender rolling, so I wonder how would that help the OP.
As Dennis said, they don't look right on E39.

Exactly. This is why I said fender rolling. Got it? |

its because i was maybe planning on using them as templates to make a custom wide body kit and mold on...and rolling the fenders has nothing to do with cosmetics,,,wich is what im talking about...

Hi Alex,
Have you perhaps done some more fundamental work into this idea ? by that I mean perhaps get a suitably experienced photoshop expert to create some mockups of what you are trying to achieve? Bolting on parts and then having to use lots of filler to get the required shapes etc would be fine if you were an experienced car body specialist etc, but I'm assuming you're not. How much of a 'widearch' are you thinking ? 2, 3, 4 5+ inches at each corner? what's your current plan of action to suitably and smoothly to design the wide matching bumpers you'll probably need? what materials will you want the kit to be made from? Proper design like this would start in a studio with drawings, so I'd suggest you start there or speak to a specialist who can start there for you ![]() Another recommendation to help you evaluate, is to go speak to Mert at BLKD Group http://www.blkdgroup.com/ who are in Torrance LA - so just up the road from you! please tell him that I sent you ![]() Cheers, Dennis! |

Don't go plastic or fiberglass with filler if you decide to do custom body work. It will just crack down the line. If you're gonna actually do it, find some one talented in sheet metal work. Will last forever that way.

You might want to check out bodykits'dot'com or www.dtmautobody.com and see if they still offer the knock-off Hamann wide body kit.

This instantly comes to mind. I actually don't mind it, which says alot because IMO the sexiest 540's are the post facelift with sport package and m pars. The only bad parts are the color and the rear fenders (to say nothing about the interior). They're just way to wide and not aesthetically pleasing. But it's your car, and I think you could have a decent wide body if you went with le mans blue and a more "conservative" approach. |

There are a few widebody e39 out there, but they had body work done, as in wider fender welded. The majority of e39 have rolled fenders.
The uber-wide body like the one in your pic is to the extreme and has the welded work done. Those look close to a duelley. With plastic add-ons the e39 would look even more like riced out Japanese specimens. I don't think there are many folks that like the style. And you have a weird approach when making friends here.

Kids will be kids so let the mutations begin.
BTW, the rear flares on that white E39 look hideous but I'm sure if it's not fast, it's definitely furious.

i dont care if you guys don't like it, i personally like the look of a widebody e39. and i only wanted them as a template. i don't get why you guys come on here and start bashing other peoples opinion??? do you guys not have anything better to do with your selves?

I'm not bashing you son but you are not using your head.... first of all you would have to actually buy the parts if you want to use them for a template and second unless you have access to a CNC machine or plastic injection mold equipment there is no way for you to make them....maybe you can carve them from wood?

I agree, and I'd never do it. The only aftermarket parts I'd put on my car are replicas of OEM.

Its like taking a beautiful young woman with a perfect athletic build and giving her big fake boobs, a surgically implanted J-Lo butt and a Botoxed face. I'm sure there are those who appreciate such but it sure isn't me.
