Tires and Rough Ride

Hi Guy's

Just wondering if anyone could help.

I have a 2008 3.0d and the tires that are on it are;

Front 255/50r19
Rear 285/45r19

They are Maxxis MA-S2 MAURAUDER II which are not run flats. These tyres are very noisy and the ride is very rough. I would not recomend them to anyone.

I have played around with the pressures to try and smooth the ride but it doesn't really seem to make much of a difference.

Can anyone suggest a set of tyres that are better, I was hoping to get a larger side wall which i think will smooth the ride a bit.

I have had landcruisers and I used to have a 528 which was a pleasure to drive but the X5 is a real lumpy car, it is like they have tried to make a sports car out of a 4WD and it is neither.

Any Suggestion

Tires

Hi Redskin,

I am using Kumho ecsta asx. I find it softer and quieter ride compared to my older Dunlop tires.

The performance is good, so far no issues.

God luck

You DO realize that this can be one of FOUR UNIQUE AND DIFFERENT tires from the factory, right?

"RFT" is not a brand and model....

Ok I fitted kumho KL17 255/55r19 all round.

Better ride makes the bump duller.

They are quiet as well.

Got the wheel alignment set up to the min toe possible, will let you know later how they are wearing.

I had Kumho ASX 225/45 R17 and 245/40 R17 on my 2001 330i sports 5 spd, but they did not run well over 90mph. I upgraded to their 4X and these tires are quiet and smooth. I had it up to 80mph so far, and I love them.

12000km down no sign of any uneven wear!

Still very happy so far!
