Pairing a RAZR Maxx

I have a 2011 335 sedan and just got a Motorola Razr Maxx phone. Unfortunately, when the car's Bluetooth pairs with the phone the names on the address list don't show up--just a bunch of phone numbers followed by entries with brackets [] instead of my contacts' names. I tried using a Bluetooth download app from the Android app store but that doesn't do it. Does anybody have a suggestion for how to get the pairing to work properly?

I had the same problem with my RAZR Maxx initially but it only lasted for about 10-15 minutes, then the full names appeared. Hopefully yours is working now.

My wife and I both recently upgraded from the HTD Droid Incredible to the Droid RAZR MAXX. We paired both phones last night with no problem. Both phones loaded their contacts within a matter of minutes. It seemed like the phone numbers were loaded first and then the additional contact info such as street address, etc. took a little longer. There were a few anomalies that were a result of duplicate names in my Google Contacts but I was able to quickly fix those.

One nice feature of the MAXX compared to the Incredible is that you can pick the sources for your contacts and I no longer get all of my Facebook friends phone numbers showing up on the BMW.

Thanks for the responses

I appreciate the responses, but I still don't think my contacts are loading as yours appear to be doing. At this point I'm just resigned to setting up contacts in the vehicle for my most frequently called numbers.

I'm not sure what did it but my phone now pairs correctly with my car. The phone got the ICS upgrade last week, and I also deleted and then reestablished a Smart Actions event with the trigger being the car's Bluetooth. Now I can see contacts as long as they're in the "people" slots on the phone. Unfortunately I still see only phone numbers if the contact is only in the "company" slot.
