In Prouction! Finally!!

My vehicle finally made it into production. According to the 800 number, production ends on Aug. 31. If the factory is closed these next 2 weeks, when do they start building my car? Do they have a skeleton crew working on it?

Question: How do you know the production end date of your vehicle? The 800 number, you say, just changed to a status of In Production, correct?

I called a couple of weeks ago, and it said it was scheduled for production, but didn't have a date as to when production would actually start. I called again today ad it said my vehicle is currently in production, and is scheduled to be completed by Aug. 31. I didn't talk to anyone. I got this from the automated message. I don't even have a vin number.

Sounds right..

As I recall, I had a similar message on the 800 number when my vehicle went into production.

Your dealer CA should now have the VIN number since it went into production. Call the dealer and ask. Once you get the VIN you can use BMWVIN.com and enter in the last seven digits of you VIN and you can see the exact specs of you car that is in production and compare it to your order.

In terms of what happens when the plant is on summer break. I do not know whether the line completely stops or has a skeleton crew.

Hey guys, if a vehicle is performance center bound does it loose priority while at the Bremerhaven? My vehicle has being "waiting to be released to the carrier" since August 4th, is this odd?

also can't wait to pick it up :-P

From what I understand, pre-sold cars are given priority. My car made the next boat out after waiting at the dock for 6 days.

I would suspect PDCs would be prioritized by the date of your scheduled pickup. Why ship it early?

I agree, they haven't been able to get me a date anyway I am still waiting but I hope is soon. this is probably why it hasn't being ship.

where does the PDC vehicles arrive?

The vessel my ride is on - going in the wrong direction

I was really concerned last night when I saw the vessel (Oberon) that my F30 is on, starting to backtrack towards the English Channel.

Looks like it is now going in the right direction again towards the Panama Canal and then Port Hueneme.

I have not been able to track the Oberon and my vehicle since it move into the North Atlantic. Marinetraffic.com cannot track it once is moves west ofthe British Isles. Does anyone know another website to track vessels in the North Atlantic ocean?

There is a website called Sailex which I think can track it, but when I tried to use it there was no updated information. Took about 6 days for the ship to show up again on Marine Traffic.

Thanks. I tried Sailex and had the same experience with the info being six days old; so it was of no real use in terms of live tracking. I guess my only alternative is to keep checking Marinetraffic.com each day until the Oberon shows up again. When did your ship start to become in range for tracking again? I see that you are on the east coast and so would your port of entry. Mine is headed for the Panama canal now for eventual port of entry on the west coast.

It will show up for part of a day as it passes the Portugese Azores, group of islands west of Portugal - I can't recall how many days after it left Southampton, close to 5-6 days.

Been waiting for my car since July 2nd. Seriously these last few days have been the worst!
It arrived at the VPC on the 18th, and I am blind as to were it is. Half temped to drive by the dealership because it could be sitting there, and my CA may just be a slacker!

Looks like my vehicle made it through the Panama Canal on the Oberon, in spite of Issac (storm). Next stop Port Hueneme.....

Called the 800 number again this morning, message said production ended waiting release to a carrier. BMW site still has it as in production. Any comments from the members on how long it took to get on a ship?

My recollection was a couple of days, but then their 800 number is usually a day or so behind. The car sat at Bremerhaven for a few more days waiting for a ship.

Thank you. I guess it is reasonable to assume by the end of this week my car should be on a ship.

Will be on the Fidelio

After dropping off my F30 in Nice on September 7 the transit status was unknown to me for the last 2 weeks. I finally got information from TT Transit that it is scheduled to be on the Fidelio, scheduled to depart Bremmerhaven on 9/26. Looking at marinetraffic.com the Fidelio has left Gdansk and is steaming towards Bremmerhaven. I finally have something to compulsively track.
