Ah, I see, my VIR is from the time the order was inputted and shows status 112. My BMW website and the phone system, when given the order # indicate the car is in production.

I'm jealous of you 335i guys. I've had an order in since 4/21, but my dealership has not gotten any allocations for 3 months straight. My CA emailed me today assuring me that he would be trading for one of the 20 allocations in the northeast within the week. Hopefully I'll at least have a production number this time next week.

I want to join the 150 club...

I wonder if the limited allocations of the 335i indicate that there will be a switchover to a new engine for the 335i relatively soon, like 12 months from now.

No clue. My CA is very surprised by the low allocations on the 335s so far. I'd be disappointed if they get a HP boost for the next MY, but as long as I'm happy with the performance of the PPK coming this winter, I'm sure I won't mind too much.

My guess is that they're basing the 335i demand on worldwide numbers, which i suspect are lower than US. That or artificial limitations on 335i's to bump up the rarity on them.

Hell. I've only seen one F30 on the road (well, pulling out of a parking lot on my way to reorder my F30 as a MY2013) so far, so they seem pretty rare in the my area in general.

My car is schedule for completion on July 6th (I know, a friday!). I am hoping it ends up being on the MV Tomar, as well. My VIR lists "Port Loc.: PHMPOA", so that seems like a posibility. If it misses that boat, there would be a two week delay!

Does BMW still use K-Line for West Coast deliveries, too? I would prefer to get on the Tomar just because it would be easier to track.

Once it makes to Port Hueneme, I wonder how long it will take to Albuquerque?

I do the same with SULEV.
For my part, I wouldn't want an SA car, no matter what they say about quality. That's why I ordered my F30 for ED.

I agree with you it should be transparent. And I think BMW should be fined for using "W" in its VINs no matter where the car was assembled in order to obscure the country of origin.

GM doesn't do that and I don't think VW/Audi does either. Volvo does this like BMW. I have an XC60 that was assembled in Belgium that uses country code "Y". But they actually press the body parts in Sweden and ship them to Belgium, so it's arguable that the car is actually Swedish. An X5 made in South Carolina has most of its parts -- certainly the body-in-white -- pressed and assembled in South Carolina. These cars should have VINs that identify them as such.

Just out of curiosity, does the VIN show up on the website or 1800 number, or do I have to get it from my CA?

Interesting. When I called last week, the automated system gave me a completion date of July 6th. For kicks, I just called again, and now it says July 7th. I don't know if that is good or bad!

"151(Body shop)" ? How do you know that? Is your CA keeping you that well informed, or are you seeing that on the bmw website somewhere?

Great--Yours is the earlier production date I have seen. Let us know when it completed. Suspect its further along then Body Shop at this point if its scheduled to be completed on the 3rd. It has to go to the Paint Shopt (152) and Assembly (153) after that before getting to Production Completed (155). Probably just a delay in reporting....hopefully. What day did it start production? What are you getting? Mine is a 328 ix M Sport.

I call the 1-800-831-1117
1. Option "2"(Faster using keypad instead of voice)
2. Enter your Production number (e.g. 3919xxx)
3. Option "1"

Just called and it is in Paintshop now(152).

For order tracking, you can find more detail info here:

Looks like mine has slipped to 7/6 as well. I always used to joke about how nobody would want a car that got final assembly on a Friday, let's hope that's not true.

I just checked on mine which has a July 6 completion and it still says the same date. July 7 is a Saturday, wonder if the factory functions during the weekend? Then again, Germany lost to Italy last Thursday in the semi-finals of the Euro Cup 2012 soccer match -wondr if this had anything to do with your 1 day delay? Hope that loss doesn't have anything to do with build quality!

My production completion date is July 9th as per phone call to BMW assist. So I am assuming for now that I can expect delivery at dealer about 30 days later. So until someone can prove otherwise I am telling myself the car will be at the dealer on August 9th. Hey I got to have some kind of deadline in my mind!

It depends on when your car gets shipped. Sometimes cars sit in port for a week or two waiting for the next ship to leave.
