1998 E36 check engine light

My car is only seasonal & I did not run it at all last summer. The check engine light came on and I had it checked and the computer said it was the secondary or auxiliary injection blower. My mechanic cleared the code & said it could just very well break back in when I drive it for at least 150 miles then see if it comes on again. I need to have the car inspected an naturally, right now it will fail with flying colors. I started the car last night and I can feel the motor is working & it runs fine.. Any advise & is the a certain mileage you have to drive the car to reset the computer??? I am going to put the car on the road today so please help..

One more time..

The CEL light came on.. and you had it checked. What were the code(s)?
Then the codes were cleared?
Is the CEL light on now?

If the car is running, I hope you can feel the motor. lol

About 100 miles, go on Lunch tour with your friends.

Oil Change if its been sitting for longer than 6 months. (if you havent already)
Get that gas outta there.. top tier fuel, 91 octane or better!
Fuel system cleaner
Fluids checked
Tires checked, possibly rotated

Secondary air system blower is pretty simple to swap out. Why not just fix the problem?

Yes, the light was on and then put on the computer & the only thing that came up was the blower motor. I don't know what the code was but i can find out. He just told me what it read. He then cleared the code & the light is no longer on. I just got it back on the road today so I will address everything else you suggested. My Bimmer seems to have a mind of it's own & seems to straighten out little glitches. I'm hoping this is also one. I did find today looking at it that there is a loose vacuum hose that is close to that blower motor that may have made it come on in the first place. Also when the car is running, I can feel that motor working. It's hard to figure out what part is what part because it's all in German. Thank you both for your reply.

Sounds like you found your problem.
If the car has been in storage for a year.. do take care of it.
Im glad to hear you're putting her back on the road.
These cars deserve to be driven.

Here is another issue with my seasonal BMW. When to put the top down & it only went about 10 or 12 inches. I then could put it back in the closed position and it would complete by putting up the windows. I tried this about 10 different times. So I did my research on how to reset it. I opened the front top manually & it is away from the windshield. My goal was to pull the cable & put it down manually. Well, I can't budge it an inch & it's stiffer than a well you know what & I can't even get it to a quarter of the way up. It's a Bavarian 1998 328 ic.. & I can't budge the back of the top either. It feels like it is frozen.. HELP, HELP, HELP... please also the red blinking light is on & it was not before when it only went up a bit.

Sounds like one of the micro switches isn't tripping. The one that tells the tonneau cover it's OK to open up. Next time, get out of the car and push the rearmost part of the folding top towards the center some more, then hold the button to put the top down again. Make sure you're not anywhere near the moving parts when they need to move...

Stella..
I would re-read your procedure on manually closing/opening the roof.
It sounds like you're getting ahead of yourself.
Perhaps in the excitement you may have misinterpreted something.
Once in place, re-sync the switches
Check the tension straps and "inch" it with the switch, and double check everything as you help it along.
Since it has been sitting, It may need some attention.

Sounds like you need to knock the cobwebs off.

And this guy ^ petriej.. Knows what he is talking about.
