Well, it's been good

Selling my 540, I found an 850i I'm very interested in, already put a payment down and just waiting to sell my baby to buy it. I'm not advertising it on here of bf.c because I don't want to deal with people from out of town. It takes too long and it doesn't work out as best as you thought it would usually.

You all on this forum have helped me out a lot over the past year and a bit. I truly did save thousands of dollars just discussing my issues with you all. Sad that some people have stopped using bimmerfest but what can you do.

Huge shout out to roberto baggio for helping me with things I didn't even know were wrong with my car.

Have fun with the new toy, and good luck on the new venture. That is a V12, correct? Hope you have some dough left over for repairs!

8 series take the crown in repair expense. Good luck working on her. Let us know how it goes once she's broken in.

Yeah it's an M70 V12, the car is mechanically 100% it's just that it needs some body work. I already sourced the parts and put 50% down. I needed both front fenders, passenger side mirror, both side skirts and a trunk. Because it was a J-spec car without a third brake light someone put an E30 cabrio one on it and it looks horrible. Anyways I have a couple pics of it so far

Everything on this car CURRENTLY works. A/C is super cold (R12 refrigerant) check control works, OBC works, seats, all the lights, including the rear fogs (omg) this car is perfect for me right now, and it only has 120xxx km on it. I'll get some more pics up within the next couple of weeks when I actually get it in my hands

Oh you did, did'ya ? I just smiled.

Judging by the pictures, I can't understand why you chose to sell your E34. It looks pretty close to mint, you clearly brought it to that level so a big piece of you is in there, and those are very outstanding rims. You are probably going to regret this, regardless of how fun your new ride is. If you haven't sold the car....why not keep it for 2 months and see how you feel about it then? Judging by its condition, it will be an easy sale then as well so your opportunity cost is not really significant.

Anyways, good luck ! Stick around and share your wisdom...

Looks nice from the pics you posted! I have always liked the 8-series- very unique car in itself, but very unique within the BMW world as well. I always liked the back seats of the early 6's and 8's... suitable for just one bag of groceries

If there is any way to keep the e34, do it! That thing is beautiful! I have always admired the 8 series myself but I probably would go for the 840 since I already know the engine so well. Good luck with it and keep us posted.

Just looked up the 850 since I've never heard or seen one before.

Wow! The first second or so you look at it it looks pretty ordinary, but after another second it looks pretty extraordinary. That thing must be a rocket!

Sort of found a buyer, he's pretty motivated to buy it, he's always been admiring my car at meets and stuff like that. I'm really excited about this and I'm praying it works out. Btw my rims are up for sale if any of you want them. Look in the classifieds

thats not jspec, it would be right hand drive for a start. which is a good thing because you DONT WANT an ex-Japan car, they are inferior as they are built in Japan, Japanese law, at the time not sure now, meant that the cars had to be assembled there and use 20% japanese parts to protect the local market. they for the most part just made the trims etc locally, but usually the transmissions were sourced locally too and are known as Jatco's, just google the "Jatco Jerk" you guys may not have heard of it but very cmmon issue in NZ.

sorry for bad grammer, on my ipad.

No man, not for cars made in the 90's. They had LHD because they were all imported from Germany in the first place. Plus the vin states it was a German made car

your wrong about not being for cars made in the 90s. In fact the E36 and E34 were plauged the most by thier issues, the 7 and 8 were too, you just dont hear about it as much because they are rarer. They were 80% built in Germany, and shipped and then finished in Japan with, but not limited to, J spec bits. This is why thier chassis still starts with WBA or whatever it is. They then switched to using GM sourced units, still made in Japan, which were then phased in across a lot of the lower speced BMWs such as the E46 318i in other parts of the world too

remember, the USA is a world in itself when it comes to BMWs and possibly other euros. if you did a google search for 2 minutes you would find out im not making any of the above up. there are tens of thousands of jap imported BMWs in New Zealand, and ive owned 3 and swore never again.

And ALL Japanese cars are RHD.

Auto and $3000 for it. Its obviously not perfect, but a lot better than everything else on Craigslist.

I'm in no place to argue because of my lack of knowledge of the topic. All I can say though is that this car came from Japan.. I have all the import docs and maintenance records in japanese
