What Happens Once The Boat Docks At Port?

My car is about to land at Port Hueneme in 6 hours. Bound for Mountain View California.

What can I expect from here?

How long will it take to unload the car? What kind of prep is required? How long until it gets on the truck?

Thanks... waiting!

You're better off asking the question on the European Delivery Forum, but it'll have to clear customs and go through VPC. Then it'll be delivered to your dealer. If it was a European Delivery vehicle, customs can take some time.

Once the boat Docks,

1)
it takes a day to unload the cars...

THEN:

2)
for regular purchase, your car clear customs (takes a couple of days, maximum 3 days)
for European Delivery cars, it takes at least one full weeks for it to clear customs!

THEN:

3)
like Enigma pointed it out,

your car would have to go through BMW Vehicule Prep Center at Port Hueneme:
For regular purchase, it takes at most a day, or a few more days if the car as been either damage during transportation, or would need some major software update...
For European Delivery cars, it takes a couple of more days for BMW to verify and clean your car, fix any damage, (about 5 days if not more)

THEN:

4)
the car is loaded onto a truck for dispatch to your dealership. (2days at most)

THEN:

5)
your car arrives to the dealership, they add their layer of prep (1 day)

THEN:

6)
they call you to come pick it up...

As you can see, it can takes anywhere between a week and a half to 3 or 4 weeks....

Thanks, DrivenBy

Your answer was clear and direct. Very much appreciated.
This is not an ED, so it could take only a few days. I will let you know how long it actually takes!

If you live down wind from the port, you can smell some kids burning donuts on the lot

I've had two come in via Hueneme. Both reached Seattle about 2 weeks later.
The do prioritize on customer-ordered cars (over dealer-ordered).

Congrats. One very nice item with BMW's is how they transport their cars from The VPC. They are in covered Eighteen Wheelers , not the typical open car carriers other makes such as Audi uses. The Audi is on a an open car carrier with a Car Cover like material. I always have liked the way BMW goes the Extra Mile in how they transport each car to the Dealer as Jon S. can Verify ! Enjoy !!!

BMW is the industry leader in my opinion.

Audi now wraps their cars in giant condoms of man-made material.

I'm hoping mine is the same way as I ordered from Crevier which is a relatively short drive from Port Hueneme...Vega Leader due to dock on the 3rd so I'm crossing my fingers for a delivery next weekend...
