I can't imagine a life without my 5 series, really. It's a must. But I couldn't live without the 7 series as well, so I keep both, plus a couple of toys.
I don't think you can find a replacement for the 7 series in a painless way. No other cars in the middle class can compare with the luxury and driving experience of the flagship. The new 5 series are nice, well-built, but the exterior - no personality at all. Plus, you will have to order just about every possible option for it to compare to the comfort and luxury of a 7 series inside.

I agree with Beamlord. But, I thin ak lodaed 550i will be a pretty easy transition. Not only will the car be faster...but it will handle better & if it matters to you, it will have LED Corona Rings! LOL
An E-Class or an A6 will be very conservative, boring and not as much fun to drive. I had a very highly optioned Audi A6, and it was a great, flawless car. I only kept it about 6 months, as it was only slightly more fun to drive than a Lexus! The new CLS looks pretty awesome from the front, but holy sh*t, the tail lights are awful. They look like an asian hooker with way too much eye makeup!! I do not know what the hell Mercedes was thinking!

It's a nice car overall, but Mercedes is generally out of question for me. In Germany it has two main end-consumer (and consequently, image) groups: 50yo++ grandpas, or afgan/iran/turkish pimps. Thank God I don't belong to either category. No offense grandpas and/or middle-east folk with a questionable career choice ; D

I'll take my Panny GTS in Carmine Red with a side of Yachting Mahogany trim over Cream / Marsala Red leather, topped with the Burmester.
![]() ![]() This is a different car (actually at a local dealer here) but it's the interior I am talking about. Actually still deciding between this and the Cognac with Brushed Aluminum, but in person the Yachting Mahogany with Cream/Marsala Red leather looks ridiculously luxurious and beautiful. Reminds me of an actual yacht...

I dumped my 08' Lexus GS 460 2 years ago. Mark it off your list as you will surely be disappointed, especially if you want performance.
Good luck with your negotiations…...

While washing my car today, a panamera 4s pulls up and a skinny nerdy looking guy starts washing his car. Now I remembered reading the specs and the 4S should be 5.0 0-100 so pretty much an advantage for the porsche.
So since it' s a nice sunny day and me being curious, I asked the guy to have an acceleration test. Well, it was pretty even!, even though he used LC.Needless to say we were both surprised. I bet if someone who weighs considerably less than my 310lbs was in the 750i it would have a slight advantage:-) I also kinda think the LC doesn't bring much with non-slicks and cold tires. He seemed to struggle for traction at start, despite 4s.

Pretty cool race! So our cars are on par with the Porsche 4S? I thought the 4S should be slightly faster.

Loved the looks of the CLS, it drove well and handled nicely. Plenty of power and lots of goodies on the inside. Rear seats are cramped and getting in and out is a slight challenge. We were actually very close to purchasing it, but just couldn't handle the awful service department at the dealership any longer (got screwed over consistently with our ML). Now the Pana seems to be a very polarizing car. The looks seem to be love it or hate it. I personally love it. The interior is very cool and comfortable. The driver's seat and position feels much more like being in a cockpit/sports car than anything in the class. The driving experience is just on another level. It does things a car this size just shouldn't be able to do. Even the V6 is quick and agile. Rear space isn't great and the trunk space isn't vast. Only downside to the Porsche was price. I don't think you can go wrong with any of these cars. It all comes down to what you feel like driving. Quote:
Your '08 is the exact same car as the new one...lol. You do know that the new GS out handles the new 5 series. Quote:

The new Panamera GTS looks stunning. And I've noticed up here in Canada the Panamera isn't depreciation at all, not sure how the depreciation is down in the states on these cars.

panameras are still too new to depreciate much, and don't forget, it's not just a car, it's a porsche = overpriced/status symbol. They're always overpriced, also as used cars.

im intrigued with Porsche's depreciation if its really low. my 740Li was US$220k vs Pana S US$230k way back in late 2009. now, the porsche dealer is trying to kill me saying my 7 is now valued at $115k while i want $140k for it given it has just 8,500miles and flawless. and im trading in not for a Pana S, but for just a Pana V6
he is offering me a GTS though for US$270k.
