z3 new ac belt smoking a bit
I've had plenty of experience changing belts, I really needed a serpe
ntine belt so i went ahead and replaced the ac belt (which is irelevant because the ac dosnt work yet). The belt is aligned properly and all pullys are turning, the mofo smokes. the belt seemed a tight fit and after driving for a bit it stopped smokin but i still can kind of smell it. should i just take the ac belt off until i fix the ac leak? does anyone have similar issues? It's a 1998 z3 2.8.

i would remove the belt and check [feel] all the pulley bearings. make sure there isnt anything leaking on the belt/pulleys eg anti freeze. does the a/c compressor engage ?

the ac system is all jacked up ive been restoring this car because the past owners abused the hell out of it. the compressor does not engage but the pully does spin. the pullies feel fine, no fluid it does have a very small valve cover seal leak but it dosnt pour onto the belts or anything. I drove it to work today it seems as though it has seated correctly.
