what is the standard iDrive like?

It appears that iDrive is standard on the F30. Can someone tell me what is controlled by the iDrive in models that are NOT equipped with the Navigation option? Is there a LCD screen? The same screen for models w/ Navi? or does it just use the LED menu between the gauges? thanks.

Without nav the screen is smaller(6.5 inches vs 8.8 inches)but its not that big of deal since the larger screen is only used for the nav and the rest of the screen displays are the same size on both. Getting the nav also gives you a little more in info (extended instrument cluster) on the dash plus some other feactures(more memory for storing music, Online Info Services, BMW Assist with enhanced Bluetooth and USB). Other than that virtually every thing is controlled by the idrive and its the same with or without the nav. Check the videos on BMWusa.com to get a good idea of the idrive.
