Coding fog lights when turning

Hi All,

I've found the codes to activate the fog lights when turning. Will this work on a F30 without adaptive headlights? It seems like it should, but was wondering if anyone has had success with this.

It should. Cornering Lights are separate from Adaptive Head Lights.

I would interested in the Fog Lights being on by default when the headlights are on. Is there a code for this?

Please don't do this. Fog lights when there is no fog just serves to blind any drivers in front of you.

I think this is different than switching on Fog Light all the time when there is no Fog. This is only switch on one side of the Fog light when turning the steering wheel for better cornering vision. I would also like to do so. This is a standard feature for my Tiguan and I miss it on my new F25.

Cloud you please share the code?

Yeah, I have that on my '12 328. If he's talking about just cornering fog lights that's fine, but the way he (or she) wrote it as "on by default when the headlights are on" made me think otherwise.

I just see more and more drivers with their fog lights on all the time nowadays.

How did you come to this conclusion? The fogs disperse light low to the ground. Maybe your experience is with aftermarket fog lights that may be improperly installed.

Go check it out tonight (assuming it isn't foggy). Find a dark road, have a friend drive towards you, while you drive their car. Notice how dazzling the fog lights are.

Fog lights are named fog lights and not "extra headlights" for a reason.

Agree, . Fog light shouldn't be used inappropriately.

I might have misspoke above. While the Cornering Lights are in fact separate from the Adaptive Head Lights for F30, I think AHL may still be a prerequisite for the cornering lights to work. Here are the F30 codes though:

Cornering is FEM_BODY => C_CLC_ENA = F30enable

AHL is FEM_BODY => C_BLC_ENA = F30enable

I coded this & confirmed this works on a F30 without adaptive headlights. The cheat sheet I had showed 6 separate codes & I coded them all.

FEM_BODY >> 3073 C_CLC_ENA = F30Enable
FEM_BODY >> 3073 C_BLC_ENA = F30Enable
FEM_BODY >> 3066 KL_ENABLE_LI = KL_Ein
FEM_BODY >> 3066 KL_ENABLE_RE = KL_Ein
FEM_BODY >> 3062 MAPPING_abbiegel_L_output = nsw_l
FEM_BODY >> 3062 MAPPING_abbiegel_R_output = nsw_r

Nice, I will try this when I start coding my F25. Thanks for sharing.

FEM_BODY is the Front Electronics Module in F20 / F30. These codes in an F01, if they exist, would be in FRM.

The cornering lights on an F10 though are the inside headlights and not the Fog Lights, and I would expect the same on an F01.

I think my F01 already has Dynamic Xenon (Cornering light while i make turn). it is possible to codes and activate the fog lights when turning/cornering. I go through FRM section and I can't find anything to activate fog lights when turning/cornering.

thanks
David

I think Cornering Fog Lights is only possible on F20/F30.

And X5s (E70 and F15)

Least every other X5 I see around has cornering fog lights.

Coded it on my F30 few months ago, it helps a bit given mine isn't equipped with Adaptive Xenons (just auto-leveling Xenons) so it definitely compensates for it. My last car (G35) had *slow-responding* adaptive xenons

I was looking all around the internet and in the FRM FDL, no luck.

But looks like E83 has them as standard?!

I wonder why BMW took such a useful feature out completely. (Not even with coding)

I was hoping to find a way to turn off the useless cornering/foglights. You turn the wheel more than an inch or two and the d@mn fog lifght comes on. looks tacky to me IMO.

I found it pretty useful if your car do not have adaptive head light.
