http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/att...6&d=1338725691 If it lets you put the 840 in there, then just highlight the DME ECU in E-Sys (The ECU itself, not the underlying CAFD entry) and right-click on it and select CODE. When you use CODE, it codes the whole module using default values based on the VO.

Yes, but did you write the new FA to the car and code your DME ECU afterwards, and what were the before and after VMAX-Codierung settings?

His VO took 840, and he coded the DME successfully, but it didn't work. I told him to also try Coding CAS, JBBF, and KOMBI based on the VO in case they are also affected. No update since then.

Or you could just add 840 & 337 to your VO and code DME and see if it works for you?

Guys, I just tried adding 840 and 377 to the Vo which went ok. However my vmax is still defaulting to 210/A4. I even tried coding again after adding the 840/377 to something higher BUT it just defaults back to 210/A4. So bummed, I still can't believe BMW would limit a 535 to 130mph !!! I even called BMW USA to file a customer complaint.

Well a very sad whimper, however I spoke with OE tuning in Sherman Oaks and for $679.00 they offer a stage 1 tuning that will remove the limiter completely. I also have the Shop manager at my local BMW working on it as well........

I think most tuners including Dinan take out the speed signal of the speed limiter, and open the car up that way. If you talk to OE Tuning again, ask them exactly how they accomplish this. Incidentally, my contact in Austria, who is very knowledgeable of BMW Cars advised that all BMW cars in Europe are limited to 250 kmh (155 mph), not 130 mph, including true M Cars (M3, M5, M6) and there are no special option codes like 840 on them either. In instances where BMW offers an increased limit (e.g. a true M Car with M Drivers Pack or Performance Pack) a DME FSC is needed.

Hmm I wonder if the dealer would be able to remove the speed signal if I asked and paid for labor ? I think their HP gain is like 40-60. Which seems to be the norm with stage 1 and 2 tunes.

I sincerely doubt they would alter the factory condition of a car under warranty.

Besides the DME, I just noticed there is also a Vmax setting in the EGS (electronic transmission) module:
EGS / 3000 Applikation / Vmax = wert_01, wert_02, wert_03 or wert_04 I am guessing it is somehow related to the speed limiter.

I think I'm going to just chill for a while. I did find one place that would flash the ecu and remove the limiter and it also tunes the car for more horsepower. However I don't want to void the warranty or risk hurting the car with a tune. They did say they would just remove the limiter and not tune it but it was the same price of 700 bucks. To me it's not worth the 700 to have it removed at this time. It seems there is new stuff coming out for this engine very 6 months or so. I'm sure in time they will have something affordable.
