e90 Limp Mode, round 2

Got the limp mode warning over the weekend, in the exact same spot on the road that I got it the first time a few weeks ago.

Dropped it off, got a 2012 328xic loaner. We'll see what the diagnosis is. Sigh.

what happened the first time?

First time was VANOS exhaust solenoid.

This time? VANOS intake solenoid.

Is there any other part of the VANOS system I should tell them to replace? They are keeping the car overnight to do more test drives in the morning..

Unfortunately, you can't tell them what to replace, only BMW corporate makes those calls, and they usually wait till something breaks before they address it. It's like a doctor who will not prescribe any preventative care and will only see you if you are sick.
