Driver door will not open on 2003 Z4

Not sure if this an issue with other Z4, but locked driver door using fob key button. When I went to enter after going to store the door unlocks but the handles (interior and exterior) will not open the door. I tried several times locking and unlocking with fob and manually (key in lock) but still no luck in opening door. Passenger side door works fine and as I result had to climb over centre consel (and shifter) to get to driver side. A little embarrassing and painful. Any suggestions on how to get the door open.

This is a known issue. I think it is a loose bowden cable inside the door. Not sure how to get the door open once this happens though...
Here is one thread about it:http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=555554

Thanks chickdr. I might take it in to shop. I think I need specialized tool and it sounds it's like a wire linkage issue i.e. Bowden wire. It's also a pain to take door cover off with door closed.

No problem. Please update and let us know how it was done and how much this cost. I am sure others will have the same issue!
