ASC blinks at 60kph
Strange issue, have an 2002 530i (Europe version) driving at 60kph and the ASC light blinks and the car won't accelerate even stepping at the gas pedal, and is just at 60kph, below that the car drives ok. And until the car slows below 60kph the ASC lights goes off and the car starts to drive normal and then passing 60kph the ASC blinks again and the car won't accelerate.
I have tried manually switching off the ASC button and the car drives normal and it does pass 60kph with the ASC off, but then turn on the ASC the car won't pass 60kph, have already changed the ABS module and still has the same problem with a borrow module, anyone have or experinced this issue can point me how to fix it? thanks I can drive the car normal passing 60kph with the ASC off but now is winter here an I would prefer if the ASC is working... |

I only have a guess but don't know.
The rotation rate sensor (rpm rate sensor) which prevents car from rollover works at higher speeds only since there is a low chance to roll over at low speeds. I don't know what is the speed threshold there, could be 60. I guess your ABS works which means speed sensors are o.k. Steering angle sensor? Brake pressure sensor (must be o.k.)? |

The same thing happened to my friends 525. It turned out they had to replace the ABS/DSC module,,,even though the light didn't stay on all the time.
The other possibility...and another friend had this happen (this is no BS), there was something wrong with his trannie, and when his car hit 60, it wouldn't shift and then it would go into a fail-safe mode... Hope its nothing serious... |
