It's a very good looking car. OTOH, the E91 based X1 with the turbo 6 may not be much more expensive and should at least have better steering feel.

I don't think anyone interested in the F31 is cross-shopping a cute ute. Wagon-lovers are a "special" bunch with no interested in lift kits.

It might be possible to convert a few people in the opposite direction, but as you point out, the pricing does not really favor the wagon, sadly. The boosted 6 option could sell some X1s over Tourings though. BMW isn't really giving the touring a chance in the US; same as it ever was. Though the X1 is a bit de-contented, they hope nobody will notice.

Either way, people tend to like one or the other, but not both.

May live to regret returning my 6MT E61...That is a deal breaker for me, I would rather search for months for a used M/T E91 or E61 than be stuck with an auto for 3 years, bummer as I wanted to do another ED too.

That is what I hope for. May be it will be available as a special order. But choice of engines sucks too. Lack of it actually. After LCI maybe..

Given the limited choices in wagons in the US, a wagon buyer has to at least consider the smaller crossovers and the X1 is more E91 wagon than SUV. The F31 would be more compelling with with more powerful engine and the E90 steering feel. The X1 may have some cheap trim but the F31 doesn't match the F10 or E70.

Given the lack of a 5 series wagon, I cross shopped the F10 with the E70 and the F10's steering felt so dead I decided I may as well drive an SUV and enjoy the extra space.

Would anyone be able to clarify the differences between the M Sport suspension and the Adaptive M suspension? I've read the Adaptive M is the way to go in several reviews (better than the normal or Sport line suspension options), but haven't read anything regarding the M Sport suspension. Assume it will be firmer/less forgiving, but wondering about real life/daily use...how comfortable the ride is, if it can be made "softer" with comfort mode on, etc.? Like the look of the M Sport but not looking for the most firm ride possible... thanks
