I am having the Dinan Stage 1 installed tomorrow morning so I went to the local race track to get a base line on how the stock 750li does in the qtr mile
1st run 13.7173 @ 99.91 mph. I let up before crossing the line 2nd run 13.4773 @ 105.98 mph 3rd run 13.4106 @ 106.26 mph 4th run 13.5143 @ 105.09 I ran in the Sport+ mode and turned the AC off. I had a little over a half tank of gas, which I know probably slowed me down a tad. Most cars beat me out of the hole, but if I could catch them by the 1/8th point, I knew I had them. I won 3/4 races. And NO, I wasn't racing pickup trucks or anthing.

Stage 1 Installed
I got the car back today and it runs great. Test and Tune is every Thursday night at the local track, so I will let everyone know how much of a difference the Stage 1 makes.

So how about your butt dyno? Does it make a huge difference?

Yeah, it is definitely faster off the line. I did one run up to about 80mph and it felt like it was pulling harder throughout the power band. I am really looking forward to getting it down to the track next Thursday. Those numbers are for real and I can get a good comparison. My "feel" is a little clouded since I just drove a 5 series w/ Stage 3. As you can see from the results, I need to be working on my Reaction time. The car was very consistant on each run except for the first one, when I let off the gas to early. That wont happen again!

Can't wait to see your numbers. I'm getting stage 1 installed on Monday. Thought I would start there, see if that makes me happy, and if I feel like I need a bit more, then I will up it to the stage II.
For me personally, I wanted to get some break-in miles on the car before I had it installed so i could familarize myself with the car, and then know the exact differences upon installation. If its anything like what I think it will be, I think I'm going to be fairly happy. Out of curosity, has anyone installed a cat back exhaust on their F01 7? As much as I have a lead foot and like a sports car, part of the reason I got the 7 is I did want a luxury car, and I don't want to kill that by "racing" it out completly, but curious about the feedback on that part. |

Amazing power!!
I just got my 7 back after having the Dinan Stage 2 installed... all I can say is WOW! The difference is amazing even in such a heavy car! There is noticeably more power across the entire power band and a much smoother start from stop. Best investment per $ I have ever made in a car netting 100+ hp! There was a glitch with the flash upgrade of my ECM though, requiring it to be sent to Dinan for reflashing. This added a week of down time... but apparently the problem is a known issue with some of the cars and may explain why posts in another thread describe issues after the instal with no perceptible change in power. If you're in the Dallas area, I recommend Autoscope (certified by Dinan) for the instal. They charge a nominal fee but their customer service is impeccable and they get the job done right! They were upfront with me about the problem when it occurred and they now have a work around that won't require uninstalling the ECM on future vehicles. Ironically, the certified BMW dealer in Dallas wouldn't even call me back after I left several messages inquiring about the upgrade. So... if you're still debating Stage 1 or 2 here's what I was told... Even though there's only a minor increase in hp going from stage 1 to 2, the Stage 2 works better with X-drive. It's also touted to be smoother for all models. The price difference in minimal. You can always do Stage 1 and then just pay the difference to have the Stage 2 flash but of course you'll have to take the car back in to get this done. I personally wouldn't even mess with the Stage 1. Beware that any time you take the car back to your BMW dealer, they may over write the Dinan software when they do standard software upgrades that are part of service. Your car will obviously drive different, and you'll have to take it back to get the Dinan software reflashed which most installers should do without charge. Hope this info helps. Trust me when I say this is the most effective, easiest, and cheapest (hp/$) upgrade I have ever done on a vehicle I have owned! Enjoy!!!

Well, it looks like rain all day tomorrow so it does not look like I will be getting any track time.

I'm getting a Stage 3 tuning with Dinan exhaust within the next two weeks. Starting today, Oct.1-30 15% off. I can't wait. I have a 2011 750I X M sport with 23,000 miles on it but I am getting the two year 100,000 mile warrantee added from Cornerstone through BMW and Dinan. That's 2 years up to 100,000miles on top of the 4/50,000 that it normally covers, new program and only a few hundred more than the extended dealer warrantee. if you own the car it's a must.
