Farewell
Have to go...got an offer on a very slightly used (1025 miles on the odo) Panamera4S with GT Silver/Expresso and a boat load of options. I will post pictures soon. Thanks for the memories and the fun!

Sounds like a beast. Can't wait to see it. Of all people I thought you'd never give up your 7!

Congrats! You don't have to leave, you can just hang around as an ex-pat. Just don't be too over-zealous when talking about your Panny.

COOL. Congrats. Like I said before, it came down to a 2012 Panamera S (highly loaded, sticker was $115,000) and the AH 7. The lower payment each month, less down due and free maintenance...made me go with the 7 Series. But, I still think every few days...."should I have gotten....."???
Do not leave, we love to hear pros and cons to each amazing brand and model!! PICS, PICS!!!

Good riddance. Now you can annoy Porsche owners with inane remarks like "if you don't like your Porsche why don't you look elsewhere,"

Thanks! I've decided to stick around because I know that doing so will continue to annoy you. Incredible, but right now I cannot think of anything that would please me more!

The GTS is gorgeous...this dealer had a black/black on the showroom floor and a very nice looking blue on the lot. I went there purely for research...I had never driven a Porsche and the Pana was one of the cars I was considering after I finished with my lease. I was practically the only customer there and I had a great salesman...he was willing to let me test drive every Pana model they had, which included the Turbo S. The one I bought had been a special order that included the special paint, full leather, Chrono Package, cooling/heating seats front and rear, turbo wheels, and a bunch of other stuff. As I said, the car had 1025 miles on the odo...the previous owner took a job in Europe and sold the car...I got it for $92K.

What'd you end up doing about the remainder of your lease?

I never liked the styling mainly because of the rear but it's grown on me and it's one of the few cars on my list of cars I want to own at some point. What sort of wheels came with your car? The turbo wheels look hot.

I am with you on the rear. I tried again this year but I just couldn't get emotionally tied to the car. I also want a trunk.

I'm curious to get your feedback on driving and ride impressions. How would you compare the two? I see the Pano's all the time, and am simply not sold on the styling. I wonder if there is a compelling performance differential?

Before I bought my '12 AH 7, I was inches away from signing a deal on a new '12 Panamera S with Chrono Sport Pkg & just loaded with tons of options. The drive is AWESOME!! As much as I love my 7 Series, there is no comparison with the Panamera. The Panamera is honestly a 911 Carrera with 4 doors. The handling, performance and feel is second to none. I was blown away...as I too do not love the styling & was prepared to hate it. But, the Panamera is awesome...but I still cannot get over the rear end styling.

I have only had a few hours of wheel time in the Panamera, so these would just count as initial impressions; however, let me say first that I still love the 7 Series and it was hard for me to watch my 7 be driven away. Physically, the Pana does not seem as wide, is certainly shorter in length and height, and rides lower than the 7. The transmission is an 8-speed, double clutch configuration that (even though the car is equipped with manual mode paddles) appears to shift faster than a manual. The Pana 4S has a normally asporated V8 that puts out 400HP. The all-wheel-drive set up seems very similar to what I had in the 7. My Pana has 3 drive and suspension settings...normal, sport, and sport+...one thing I am liking already is that I can intermix settings: I can set the engine, transmission, and throttle in sport and set the suspension in sport+, causing the car to lower. Not that the 7 seemed "soft" to me (I know that some here refer tot he 7 as a boat), but the Pana is definitely connected to the road...you feel it in the steering response and under your seat...the normal, sport, and sport+ settings allow you to configure the ride from luxury sport (not soft) to firm and very tight. My Pana is equipped with 19" Continental non run-flats and I notice a discernable difference in ride and handling on this car as compared to my 7. I've done a couple straight-ahead blasts in sport and sport+ modes...this car is definitely fast, but I cannot yet say that off-the-line it is any faster than the 750ix. From a performance and handling aspect, where the Pana impresses so far is the braking...for whatever it's worth, this Pana is equipped with the same slotted roter brakes as the 911.

Nice! Interior looks really nice and love how it has the NAV in the gauge too!
Is the interior the same as the 7 or slightly smaller? How about cargo area, not that the 7 has a big trunk but is the Pana's hatchback confirgration kind of make up the the difference?

Before I purchased my current 7 series I was comparing it against a Panemera. What swayed me to the 7 was the luxurious ride. The Pana is a Porche and hence a sports car and you can tell from the ride is it not as smooth and comfortable as a 7. I'm curious to get your impressions on the comfort of driving day to day. Also, I'm a creature comfort guy; I drool over soft closing doors, keyless entry, keyless ignition, stop and go cruise control, Head Up Display, lane departure warning, blind spot warning, etc etc etc. Wish the Pana had those. Would jump in a heart beat!

![]() Great pick up of an amazing car. My first choice as well, but ultimately wasn't prepared to spend the extra +$35K up here.
