How to retrofit Comfort Access to your E65 or E66
Another video from Ace for your viewing pleasure ![]() In this thread I will describe how to retrofit Comfort Access to your E65 or E66 ![]() In this first video I give a full description of entire Comfort Access system in an E65 E66 ![]() To clearly understand 'Comfort Access'....it is only an extended antenna system that runs off the CAS. The CAS still controls the DME to start the car and allows access to the car. The 'CAS' utilises this extended antenna system to 'detect' that a valid key is present. Without Comfort Access, you have to push a button to make your key transmit it that it has 'arrived' which validates to the CAS and thus unlocks the car at the same time and allows you to start the car when you insert the key in the CAS. The CAS has an internal 'close proximity' antenna that reads the key when it is inserted in the CAS. There are no physical contacts made to the key when inserted into the CAS. With Comfort Access, the key is constantly transmitting, and when you are within a metre of the car, the CAS external antenna system (the Comfort Access System) detects the presence of a valid key and 'wakes the system up' without you having to push a button. At this point the car does not unlock but goes into 'ready mode' to receive an input from a door handle or trunk lid to allow access and unlock the car. Once you are in the car, you do not need to put the key into the CAS because the internal antenna of the CAS is rendered useless by the fact that there are five other internal antennas detecting the key inside the car. The CAS knows this and so it will allow the car to start. There are NO physical contacts in the CAS when you insert the key. The key is not charged by inserting it into the CAS. If it goes flat, you have to replace the CR2320 battery under the flap of the key. AND IF YOU WANT TO CRITICISE MY WORK........KEEP IT TO YOURSELF ![]() Last edited by AceFX; 07-25-2012 at 08:03 AM. |

That is too funny II Kings 9:20...... When I was 18 we used to put big block chevs into little tiny Ford escorts. Chassis twisting was a big problem....but who cared...it was fun. It would do a 1/4 mile in 9.9sec....normally aspirated engine......

In this video I demonstrate how to connect the Passive Go CAN Bus module into the existing CAN Bus wiring (X13471) in the car. It is a parallel connection, NOT IN SERIES.... I also show the device I am using to parallel the connection.

You should note in your OP about the computer tools needed to program the module.

Sorry, I thought everyone already knew from all my other DIY's etc that I exclusively use Dashsoft.
![]() So....everybody who didn't know....... I am using Dashsoft to do all the coding. I was using V2.1 but PAPER has made V2.2 available to me now......thanks PAPER Last edited by AceFX; 07-21-2012 at 06:26 PM. |
