How to retrofit Comfort Access to your car.

That's right ACE, there is another module though, look up A214 in WDS.

It sits on the CAN bus and has the level sensors wired to it. It then communicates with the headlight modules on the LIN bus.

Another simple system by BMW! Lol

That is the PA wiring coming from the food module.

It is from the four door connectors on the body that you pick up pin 3 and then run them to the connector block behind the fuse panel behind the glovebox. Then you run a wire from the connector block to pin 17 on the CAS.

Yes, I had parts from an old wiring loom so it made it simple. Looking at diagrams now. The part number of my LM2 with adaptive headlight control is 9153273

Hey Stuart,

A214 is the adaptive headlight module for pre-facelift cars.

With the facelift headlights, the LM2 incorporates the adaptive control within it and A214 does not exist.

FACELIFT....... no A214, now controlled by LM2




PRE-FACELIFT....... A214 instead of LM

That's right come to think of it, I had to buy the LWR version just for vertical aim control.

Sounds like you have it all under control! There is a wire change by the way, for the led output to the light switch that indicates automatic lights are on.

Yeah it's the wire that drives the LED in the light switch panel, someone cocked up on the LM2 I think!

You need to move wire is pos 17 to pos 60.

It's detailed in BMW TIS 61 35 285

Hey, no.

I bricked my original LMA when coding the VO.

I just upgraded it to an LM2 because I wanted to have welcome lights. My LM2 is just the standard version for headlight levelling and not the adaptive version. Mine says E6X LMII LWR, yours should be the AHL version I think, I can't remember off hand.

This CA retrofit is nearly finished...... just got to code my keys and do the last wiring this weekend to the CAS

Some modules need to be powered down and back up for the changes to take affect, I remember the NAV being a pain, it may have had something to do with me not doing it properly at the time!

Do the same for your CDC.

I tried this today and loaded up NCS to read the EHC and it used EHC_E65.PRG (from C:\EDIABAS\ECU I believe), so I went in to Tool32 and used the c_fg_lessen and attached is what it returned..

It seems INPA is seeing one VIN and Tool32 is seeing the correct one..wtf

Anyways, please switch this to PM as I don't want to hijack Ace's thread any further
(it's just I couldn't attach the image to the PM lol)

Yes, i wasn't sure if it was standard or not. But I do know that it is coded on the LM.

My LCM was partially bricked , everything worked except the turn signals .
The reason it got partially bricked was cause the battery on the car died
as I was coding the LCM . I didn't realize I had been in the car for over
4 hours reading & experimenting with production dates for some members
on this site . My car light came on & said low battery in the middle of coding
& the LCM was affected by it .
