FXXX, someone hit my Z4!
Hello members,
OK, let me tell u guys what happened. I was trying to find a parking space in a parking lot. There was a Ford pickup truck was backing up the car and I was waiting in the aisle. The driver didn't see me and keep backing up the car, I was like what the FXXX. So I honk the horn, but he didn't hear me. Now, u guys should know what happen, this stupid guy just hit my car right in front of me.( there was a car behind me, that's why I couldn't back up) It really pissed me off, and I found out he was only 16 yrs old while I was taking down his information for insurance purpose. 30 min laters, his parents call me and ask me to do them a favor which was don't go through the insurance. I said OK, all i want is just get my car fix.(sigh.......why am I so nice to them??) By the way, I bought the car for less than 2 months and this kinda **** happened to me. Anyways, the car is repaired now, it cost $4000 to fix it. The body shop replaced the Xenon headlight, side fender and fixed the bumper. I am glad the car looks great now. |

Which parts are from the accident and which parts are "flame surfacing?"

damn sorry to hear that, but atleast you can pick your place of repair and make sure it is exactly perfect on their dime, not that , that makes you feel any better
hope it all works out |

Glad everything worked out OK. It was very good of you to settle without the insurance co. they are theives. My daughter was involved in a minor fender bender when she was 17, and I paid for the repairs to the other car myself, so her rates wouldn't skyrocket.
I sorta feel bad for the parents, $4000 bucks, I hope they make the kid pay some of it off himself. -- Scott Last edited by z3scot; 06-09-2004 at 11:31 PM. |

Same story for me in December: my parked MZ3 got hit in the front corner (left not right) by a backing driver in Los Angeles. The impact didn't break the headlight, but did damage to the bumper cover and side fender. The other driver didn't want to use insurance and I got 3 estimates (from $1300 to $4000). They eventially decided to use insurance.
I went with the $1300 shop because they knew the most about BMWs, and wanted to repair the bumper cover (retaining the original VIN on the part). |

Bastages got me back in March too
but it was a hit & run with no witnesses, looks like I'm going to eat it too as the deductible was $1000 and it would count against me if I claim it http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54383
