I don't know if the MPG gauge underneath the tach is accurate or not, but usually I get a little bit over 25 during normal driving. If I hit the "sweet spot" the needle goes up to around 40.

From Cincinnati to Chicago (about 350 miles) I made it on one tank from full to sputtering. Which comes out to be about 30 mpg. Around town, the way I drive, about 17 lol. 85 327e stock rims and tires, cold air intake and every ignition part, fuel parts and filters replaced within the past year. Before I did all that I got about 25mpg to there and had to fill up on the tollway ( don't do this very expensive lol)

Please do NOT run your EFi vehicles to empty
2 things:
As the fuel pump picks up the last fuel it will pass all the accumulated crud in the bottom of your tank through the strainer- through the pump & then the filter. Your pump HATES this
Also in extremely hot countries (like mine) the less fuel in your tank, the easier it comes to the boil forming air pockets in the fuel line. Your pump HATES this

you are right. always fill asap after the fuellight comes on. all E30s will do around 400-450 kms to a tank city driving, thats about 250-280miles

I cleaned my tank out when I replaced the fuel pump and sender set.. So there is a minimum amount of nasty stuff in there. I don't make this a habit just wanted to see if I could stretch the tank and I did.

I used to average about 26 in 66(h)/33(c) as an auto SETA before it went down to near 24 so something is off. I now average about 23 in 66(h)/33(c) as a manual 2.7i.

I have no idea when my tank is truly empty or not. The gauge always floats around
