Sirius question

SO the Sirius portion of my radio seems to have failed. My car has the nav and integrated phone; which works without any issues. The channel names/descriptions all populated the screen. Sound went from intermittent drops to no audio at all. I contacted Sirius they tried a remote reset and it failed. They told me that BMW may just have to re-flash the car. I took it to my local dealer and gave them the info. They ran diagnostics on the hardware as well as antenna and couldn't find anything wrong with it. The did not reflash the car's computer. Could they have meant (Sirius) recode the radio? Would re-flashing the car's computer help? With the part alone being $1000 plus a service to recode...I have a hard time getting my car back to a point to pay for radio. Any help appreciated.
