Cars get unloaded from the ship on Wednesday afternoon. Get to the VDC Thursday morning. 2-3 days through the VDC prep minimum and then transport time to the dealer. Is it too optimistic to think that my car could be in Colorado when I return from Hawaii on August 17th?

Who knows? The Tomar is scheduled to dock at 5:00AM on Wednesday the 8th. It's scheduled to leave before the ninth so maybe it won't take too long. If all goes well your car could make it to CO by then. What does your CA say?

The CA said that it can take anywhere from 1-3 weeks after the car arrives at port before it gets to CO. He said that they will load carriers with cars heading to different parts of the western US and that if your car is the "last one" loaded onto a carrier then your car will get to CO very quickly, if your car is loaded on to the carrier early it could sit at port for another week or two waiting on more cars to arrive before the driver heads out.

Even though the Tomar is still in Mexican waters the W&W site has added two lines to the status details.

The status quantity column is blank but they're prepared when the Tomar arrives.

Tomar radioed in her position a few minutes ago, only about ~200 miles out of Oxnard, at this rate she could theoretically be docked late tonight or very early tomorrow morning.

According to the pop-up in this link, the ETA is 8/8 at 12:00 UTC (4 a.m PST), so it sounds like she's going to lounging around for a few more hours!

Finally!

To me this is the most challenging part of the journey. It is almost over but not...and there is no predicting when the waiting will end. Not that I am objecting to the Mazda2 Hertz rental I am driving now but it will be nice to be back in my own car.

Looks like she good moored at midnight, not too shabby, I think that was ahead of the originally planned time. If this is the only shipment coming in this week the guys at Oxnard should have these cars (at least the "sold" priority orders) out before the end of the week.

There is another ship carrying Hyundais arriving on Saturday. The issue is getting customs to clear the "sold" cars quickly. No telling how many of those there are. I called WWL in Hueneme this morning to get an estimate, and the gentleman who answered the phone either did not know (his claim) or wouldn't tell me (more likely). So all we can do is wait patiently...ugh.

You called the port to find out what the hold-up was with offloading your new BMW? LOL, that's pretty funny stuff.

Granted I am not the most sane of people...but really I called just to see how many "sold" cars there were. My plan was to try to drive out to the port this afternoon but if the car was already through customs and at the VPC there would be no point.

Not sure why would drive to the port... you can't pick it up there. It takes a minimum of 1-2 days to process the car is my understanding.... not to mention that the dealer needs to make final delivery.... I doubt you can pick up at the port for an ED re-delivery even.

Anyone have an update on what stage the cars are at?

The wilhelmsen lines site shows that my car was received at the VPC. Getting information now gets harder...Until the car gets released to shipping it is typically in a black hole.

It would have been a fun experience to watch them unload the ship and possibly catch a glimpse of your car - except it would be almost impossible to distinguish it from the others unless yours still had the German license plates attached.

They normally put a rush on sold orders and process them in 2-3 days. I expect people in Ca should get their cars early next week with people in other states getting their cars from this shipment late next week or the following week.

My CA just let me know that my car will be at the dealership Sunday or at the latest Monday. The Tomar docked Wednesday morning and Sunday or Monday it's at the dealers 100 miles away. Won't be long now. . .

Mine arrived at BMW Santa Barbara this morning - Jon Shafer posted some pictures of it (http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=638701) so it only took two days to go through the VDC. Picking her up this coming weekend combined with a mini get away to the coast.
