2005 X5 CD changer working, but no sound!!??

Hello guys,

Im new to this forum, and I would like your help.

I have a problem with my BMW X5 E53 from 2005. My CD-changer recognizes the cd's in it, and it appears to be playing. I can cycle through the songs. But there is no audio coming out of it. FM radio seems to be working well..

I've tried two other cd changers, but the problem keeps existing.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks in advance

Mein Auto: BMW X5 E53 3.0D SPORT
Hi,

I too have developed what would appear to be the same problem on my 2003 E53 X5 SPORT 3.0D.
My CD-changer recognises the cd's are in it, and it appears to be playing.
I can cycle through the songs, but there is no audio coming out.
FM radio works well.

Round about the same time that I noticed that the CD changer wasn't producing any sound, I also noticed that the GPS (in the separate DVD unit) doesn't give verbal instructions any more.
The GP worked fine for 6 months when I replaced the DVD laser head. The GPS still works fine, but has no verbal instructions (even when I set the GPS volume to maximum in the settings menu).

I wonder if the lack of sound out of the 6-CD changer and lack of sound out of the GPS unit could come from the same module ?

NOTE : I have also recently fitted a Parrot CK 3000 Evolution Bluetooth phone kit + Steering wheel interface to the car. This works fine (but after fitting it, the sound disappeared on the CD & GPS..... I wonder if these systems are linked and could cause a problem ?

(I'll have to disconnect the Parrot and see if the CD / GPS sound come back....)

Thanks for any advice,

John
