Hi Guys,
I am shopping for a replacement for my current daily and found a CPO 2011 BMW 550i M Sport from a local dealer with the following options/mileage: Prod Date: 12/7/10 Pre-delivery inspection 1/24/11 Sold 5/7/11 -> Odometer reading reported. Registered as personal vehicle according to carfax Current Mileage: 17400 Asking Price: $56,000 Space Gray Metallic/Black Dakota Leather $60,200.00 ZMP M Sport Package $6,500.00 ZP2 Premium Package 2 $2,800.00 337 M Sport Package NC 2TB Sport automatic transmission with shift paddles $500.00 Total Suggested Price $70,875.00 I've test drove the car and thought it was very nice but since I haven't been following 5 Series since 2004, I don't know if the asking price is reasonable. What do you guys think about the asking price? If it's too high, what would be the reasonable price? I need to look at the new A6 and GS350 also but I want to stay within BMW family. Thanks for looking. |

i've talked with a dealer about trade values of F10 550's, and from that I'd say that under 50k with CPO is closer to something that's acceptible.
go on autotrader and do a search for a similar model. keep in mind the dealer wants to make a good margin on a used car. typically they make more on used. a lease on a comp. model this month most likely would be less than the payments on that car.

When I was looking up Used 2011 535i's I saw some non CPO models selling for that same price. Therefore sounds like a great deal to me, though the depreciation doesn't seem as dramatic as one would assume (therefore making you think it isn't the greatest deal), though consider for 2011 models the M Sport Package added a great deal of resale protection value to the cars.
Seems like with the added depreciation rate of the 550i's, shortly enough the difference between 535i and 550i (Used) pricing starts becoming more and more negligible it seems. If people go into hysteria over these "rising gas prices" it will definitely put a damper on V8 resale values (as it always does).

About right if...
I can't tell the packages between the model years but if the car is equipped with the DHP (active sway bars and dynamic dampner control) as part of the options, then it sounds like a good deal.
Also, check the tires that they're not the infamous Goodyears L2. If they are, have the dealer swap them out for some Michelins or throw in the tire/wheel insurance package for free...you'll be needing it. THAT said, the F10 550i is very different from an Audi A6 or Lexus GS350, I test drove those quite extensively. Also, at about $55K, test drive the Audi S4 (with sport differential). Good choices...It just depends on what is important to you. Quote:

You can definitely get less than the $56,000 asking price. I would try for around $50,000 or so since it is CPO.
The 2011 F10 M-Sport package comes with DDC and Active Roll Stabilization/Adaptive Drive. I bought my NON-CPO 2011 550i with 13,000 on the ODO in July of 2012 for $49,500, not including TTL. However, mine wasn't M sport, just sport and had all those packages plus other stuff. I think you can negotiate a little further. CPO only cost the dealer $1700 dollars but they charge double to CPO the car. I think the 550 is the best car i've test drove. |
