Anyone taken deliver of a 13' with M perf. pack?

Just asking b/c we got ours and it came in with: satin chrome fog light surrounds; chrome exhaust tips and no door sills at all.

These are relatively minor issues to correct but the car is supposed to have black fog light surrounds, black exhaust tips and M door sills.

There are pictures of 2 other 2013s on the internet that came in the same way. It's really odd. Either BMW changed the package last minute in a deviation from their dealer bulletin outlining the M perf. package - and also hasn't updated the build your own to reflect that [highly unlikely] or certain parts weren't avail. when they started production in S. Carolina [also unlikely since my missing door sills are the same as the X6M which they've been producing in S. Carolina continuously]. Perhaps it was a problem implementing changes to the production line. Shame on you BMW if that's the case. Precision is the first word to mind as you spin up the tachometer of any BMW engine. And failing to execute a MY update correctly is the antithesis of precision. Heads have rolled for less...

I'm still taking delivery. I'll get the car sorted and then seek reimbursement - from BMW BTW, this wasn't dealer error and they have no liability distinct from BMWNA.

I've been waiting to actually see one in the metal before we place an order, due to this exact sort of thing. I'll be curious to hear what you learn, too.

Yeah, I certainly understand that. Were you able to get resolution on the trim pieces associated with the M-Perf package?

I got the door sills from the dealer. That's the easy part. The fog surrounds and exhaust tips are new for 13...so they're not avail.

I asked for a credit for those items, but the prices aren't even in the system yet...

Sun is finally out

I got Mine yeasterday, No Black chrome or housing but we did get the M door sills. Question, I'm pist because we got the old headlights in ours, the circle yellow ones and not the new blue square ones, what did yours come with?

The exact same thing happened to my 2013 X6 3.5 with M performance package; no M logo on door sills.....

Only M logo on steering wheel & the rest pedal.

Has anyone received the black chrome exhaust pipes or the black housing around the fogs? What's BMW's response to this?

Have you contacted BMW? If so, has BMW offered to compensate you?

This morning I just saw for the first time a 2013 X6 with M performance package sitting in the dealer showroom near me. i have to return to get my my other vehicle from the service dept in a few hours - tell me exactly what you want to know about equipment and appearance, and I will check it out for you and take pics if possible.

I spoke directly with product planning. The black fog light surrounds are a euro only specification. But they are aware of the mistake with the door sills and chrome tips. No word on a remedy yet.

If this is a mistake it certainly should be long corrected on the production line. So where are the cars with black exhaust tips???

The white 2013 X6 with M performance package that I spoke of at the local dealer has "M" emblem on left foot rest and at the bottom of the steering wheel. No emblem on the door sills. Also, the exhaust was shiny chrome, not smoked. Hope this helps.

That's unfortunate, but I wonder if that means that they can be ordered and installed after-market.

Your information from product planning is consistent with the BMW NA promotion issued from New Jersey specifically for the 2013 X6. Here is a direct quote:

I've contacted the dealer where I took delivery of the vehicle; Shelly BMW, immediately via writing & phone, their repeat response was "we'll investigate and get back to you".

Definitely am an unhappy camper here. Planned to contact BMW NA come Tuesday morning. Will keep the forum posted.

Thanks for the information. I take delivery of my X6 with M performance package next week and already have the feeling there will be issues just like everyone else is having.

When you were tracking your vehicle, did you see active steering listed. After jumping through hoops, it was added to my order, but it is not on the Production page. Dealer sent me the "Vehicle inquiry: Design" it had it listed, with all my other options, as well as the VIN, Production number & status... hope its there.

I think everyone taking delivery of a 13' X6 with M perf. pack should demand a new exhaust since I believe the tips are welded on. Once one case is resolved successfully, then a simple post to the various boards will provide ammunition to other owners to rectify the problem as well.

The M perf. pack is expensive. We should get what's been promised. I imagine some dealers aren't terribly sympathetic to customers whose cars have chrome exhausts instead of black satin. To them I say wake up and smell the roses! This is your job to straighten this out. Not to move units or improve service retention. Those are constant but secondary goals.

Yes, it is the first item listed in the options section. Did you call the 800 number and speak to someone in customer service to verify?

Speaking to customer service is useless. The automated answer has more information that them. Today I was told (by the automated system) that my car is in the body shop with estimated completion date of June 1st. I don't know how that translates to when I will pick the car up, but the service folks just read what I could see on the website. NO confidence in the accuracy of the information. They said the website can be wrong.... At this point, either I have it and all is well, or I don't and I need to figure out how to resolve with the dealership/ BMW. Dealership told me that it is listed and sent me a fax with all of my options, my VIN, Production number, and Status... Hopefully that is legit.

I got my dealer to take the whole car back and order me a new one (this time I went with the real M) They tried to them me first that the production line messed up and that is why some of the M items were missing and that they would replace them, I said hell no, how do i know the engine got the M upgrade? So long story short they took it back. Now waiting for new white M, will keep you posted
