2003 bmw x3

Hello, I am new to this thread. I was in an MVA with my 04 X3. The car in front of me backed squarely into my front end, and I was about 2 car lengths back sitting at a stop on a hill. My front end survived, which amazed me. But I am now having a loud whistle sound when I first drive off, and then it goes to a low hum. On day two after the accident my oil light came on and I was one quart down with a new leak. The mechanics say the leak was found in the valve cover gasket and oil filter housing gasket. The service representative thought the whistle could be the crankcase ventilation valve. Could this be from the accident? The service technician said maybe, but will not confirm. I bought the vehicle about 4 weeks ago, had no sign of a leak, had no whitle loud noise and I am very frustrated with this situation. Thank you for any suggestions.
