I would bet it is due to the tires!!!!! The X3's are extremely sensitive to brand and only the OEM size should be used.

Thanks. I'm not unhappy with the Direzza's and still have a lotof tread left but I wondered what other people with the staggered rims might be using. I'll check them out

X3emist hit the nail on the head! The Indy shop put new tires on the back and left the old ones on the front. The difference in tire circumference meant the fronts were spinning slightly faster and constantly engaging the X-drive system. Had I let it go it would have worn out the diff.

New front tires and an alignment and its back to new! Can't believe it was that simple!
