'02 M3 w/ 118k miles - stay away or buy?

Greetings

I am looking at a 3 owner 2002 M3 convertible, a car that spent its life in AZ (Phoenix) and southern CA before the seller moved to Sweden and took it with him.

It has the SMG2 transmission. It just went through a major service at the local BMW center.

Carfax is clean, every service is documented, meticulously kept and dirt cheap here now because the bottom fell out of the performance car market.

Should I be concerned about the mileage, given that it is in great shape generally?

It is 200 miles away so I'd like to screen it as much as I can before I go up there and look at it.

Looking at keeping it as a summer car until the end of its useful life so resale value does not matter.

Thanks in advance

I have not heard of any "normal" issues with that kind of mileage. Unlike the E36s which need a lot of cooling system maintenance in that mileage range.

Smg2 parts are expensive, and do fail. have it inspected by a dealer or shop before you buy

But SMG problems do not seem to be mileage related.
