F30 335i no DCT?

Is there a particular reason why BMW does not give the option to outfit the F30 335i with a 7 Speed Duel Clutch Transmission or an M Double-clutch Transmission with Drivelogic? Anyone know if this will happen and when, perhaps releasing an F30 335is model?

They are saving that tech for the M3.

On the E9x, it eventually tricked down as was available on E92 335is model. That model is listed as $7K more than the E92 335i but I do not know what other extras you get for that. I think this model came out after/at the LCI, so same may hold tru for F3x.

I'm guessing that overall, BMW feels the ZF 8 speed (the auto that's available in the F30) is a better fit for what most people want than a DCT would be. The ZF is smoother and probably somewhat cheaper. Plus the top gear probably has a little higher ratio for better fuel economy. Also, with the sport automatic option in DS/sport mode, the shifts are almost as fast as they would be on a DCT anyway. If you haven't already, I'd recommend you test drive it and see for yourself.

Yes. You can expect an "is" model sometime near the end of the F3x model run, when BMW wants to stir some fresh interest.
